The Hus-Ski snowmobile was first manufactured from 1962 to1963 in Hespler, Ontario, Canada by Jim and Colin McQuat of Lachute, Quebec. It was designed to meet the needs of loggers who needed to access their timber areas. The Hus-Ski was unique with the articulating design that separated the tractor from the attached sleigh. The Canadians called the sleigh a “ski seater”. The legal work for the patent was done by a lawyer named John Turner, who later became one of Canada’s Prime Ministers. Early models were the 200 and the 400. The 200 was powered by a 148cc JLO and the 400 by a 247cc JLO engine. The McQuat brothers sold the company within a year to Johnson Wire Works who kept the Hus-Ski name, but moved the production to Pointe Claire, Quebec. In 1964 it was sold to FMC to be built as a Bolens, Diablo Rouge, until 1969.

My mother worked for that company from 64 till the end and I use to have a prototype a red Hus-Ski and a Diablo Rouge that my brother and I use to raced that the company supplied for us. Good memories

When I was young in Alaska I used one of those to haul logs out of the woods they were the under the greatest workhorsesI ever worked with. At one point in time the battery died on our truck that we're loading with wood and with a loaded with wood I was able to get that bonus Diablo to pull start that truck I always thought it was one of the best snow machines I ever had and it was great for hunting because I'd pull an Akio to bring the moose back

The HUS- SKI & DIABLO ROUGE were made in Pointe Claire, Que Canada in the mid to late '60's.They were designed for trappers & the design was such that they could be "walked" out of the snow when stuck. The were bought by Bolens about "68. They were replaced by the Bolens SPRINT(sled) at that time, which was built in PT Washington,WI.

@@scottrayhons2537 Boa Ski Snowmobiles were made in La Quadaloupe (Frontenac county) Quebec Canada and sold from 1968-1978. The one at 0:38 looks like a 1969 Deluxe as in 1969 they offered a “Deluxe 15”, 19, 23, 28, 36 HP, which had a wood grain dash, speedometer, double tube bumper with a Boa Ski nameplate, heat pleated red seats and often electric start. I believe the 1968 models only had black seats. One of the 1970 model looked the same with only difference the fuel tank went from being welded in the tunnel to a removable plastic version.
