I'm sure you are not dealing with this issue anymore. However I have replaced the clutch coils on several of these. Ogura part # MA-GT-BN1 ( John Deere part # AM38624) can be modified for use in these clutches. Just have to drill out the studs on the JD (Ogura) part.

Hi. I'm in Australia. I was wanting to see how i can remove the deck from my Bolens ST125 Lawn tractor to repair the spindle, as i understand they are no longer available. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Fred

I have the same problem with mine. I had a new PTO clutch put on it years ago when it was still available. It won't engage when it's warm, but will stay engaged while running. There is a way to adjust them. It's explained in the manual, if you have it. Maybe it just needs adjustment.

You didn't show the forward/reverse pedal. That is the best part for me. I have a QT16 (aka 1666 from 1974) and a newer version 1669 (from 1993). That pedal, along with the easy toggle switch blade engagement and all of the attachments....makes these, in my opinion, the best mowers available. Not sure what to do about the clutch, but these are awesome machines.

that kohler magnum 20 was saying hello when it popped hahaha Kohler magnum not ever had a machine with them but, I always heard they were one of the better Kohlers out there.

+427 Elevating Productions these ones are built like a brick shit house, the issue today is they are no longer supported for parts, i have searched 3 solid hrs trying to find a IPL or any sort of parts list for it.

yep thats the bad thing though no support for parts once they get so old but, the new engines aren't nowhere near as good these. the Kohler Pro/Kohler Command is still a pretty good engine though.

This is Lawn & GARDEN tractor, not a Lawn Tractor. There is a big difference in capabilities. This is a very capable machine - please don't denigrate it by calling it a "Lawn Tractor"!

I have a 1988 Bolens 1400 Eliminator I've had for 29 years. It has a 4-speed trans and a 14 HP Tecumseh engine. I recently develop[ed engine problems with it. I'd like to gt it fixed but cant' find anyone to work on it. People tell me they can't get parts for it. I wish I could keep it running and continue to use it, but don't know what to do. If anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing from you. I'm in NE PA.

g bridgman hey bud that the come see you got there does it have spark if it doesn't have spark you need to change it over to a coil system

I believe the military keeps all their parts and specifications information on computers. Perhaps the information on this part is stored somewhere and could be reproduced or the present part rebuilt.

no. parts were not available for repair, i contacted mtd mult-times to no avail. mach was made before mtd acquired bolens.

@@ChrisUrsiny Where are you? (State) My 1669 was in the the key switch, the interlock that prevents starting with pto engaged, had burned. Replaced key switch(still available) and fixed wire end for interlock terminal resolved the problem.

Take the shaft size because Electric PTOs are shaft size critical they do not care what type of tractor they went into buddy just in case you didn't know .. How many different types of PTOs do you think they made .for the industry and if you had Man sized arm's you wouldn't need power steering ...

I have a Bolens 1669 loses power when I turn on the mower blades and get into the grass I wished I knew what was wrong

Fuel starvation or Valve adjustment will do it, losing power under load. Nothing to fixing it. Dirty or bad air filter will also cause it. Take air filter off first then try it.
