This piece is the musical rendition of earning a goal you've been striving for over long years. It starts out slowly, but builds... bit by bit... each rise in tension is the self confidence growing. The snare, ever present and steady is the will to wake up each day and push harder and harder... as the journey progresses it gets stronger and stronger and then finally! The Crescendo, when you look back at all the steps you've taken and you triumphantly shout!

@Michael Morford. Yes, Michael, it does start out slowly, and it ends slowly, too, because the tempo never changes, only the loudness. As a matter of fact, I commented that this conductor had the orchestra play a bit too slowly; it dragged a bit. I prefer Lorenzo Viotti’s speed at conducting this piece as it had more life and anticipation, as it should. The listener should not feel as if they have to poke the conductor to keep him from falling asleep.

One of the best renditions of Ravel's Bolero I've ever heard! Strict, consistent tempo right to the end with no tendency to rush as with some orchestras. The violin section played as one. The woodwinds came in so sweetly without blowing your eardrums out after the awesome trombone solo. Bravo maestro Petrenko!

It's a beautiful piece of music. Did you mean the pandemics of the disease that had symptoms identical to the flu and only killed those who were admitted to the hospital, put on ventilators and given Remdesivir? Or did you mean the pandemics of asymptomatic cerebral function caused by the TV? Thank the lord that 15 months after the discovery of the new disease they were able to come up with a new, safe and effective vaccine that doesn't stop the spread and infection but you'll lose your job if you don't get it, because you are a threat, unlike those vaccinated who then get the disease against which they were vaccinated. Nevermind. Who cares that kids get myocarditis, it's a small price to pay, especially considering that kids had Zero problems with the disease, even according to the TV. You really can't make this 💩up. Have you noticed how many young and middle age people have died since 2020? Even experts on TV are confused... Anyway, good luck.

This is the most incredible rendition of Ravel's Bolero I've heard. I've been listening to this every day, it's so magnificent. I love the way it circles back to the tonic. The orchestra, the conductor, the strict tightness of the percussion, is absolutely breathtaking.

Wow, look at all those people together having a wonderful time and creating forget me not memories. No sea of mobile phones, no fear of your neighbours, just unadulterated pleasure. And what music! Humanity at it's best. Thank you for reminding us all of how good life used to be. The beauty of the music remains but the soul is dead, smashed against the rocks of despair and fear by the endless waves of the unseen enemy amongst us. Please may we all live long enough to once again enjoy the magic of each others company and close proximity. Until then I shall watch the OPO and be content with my dreams of a better time ahead. Thank you. ❤❤❤

Great presentation! We get to see all the soloists and the instruments played. We wonder how the drummer can maintain focus with the repetition he had to pay. And the strings seemed to be plucking for more than half the performance! Unusual! Thanks so much for this all encompassing performance! Thumbs uo and subscribed! For comparison, there is an old presentation with celebrity conductor of Bolero and we never see the orchestra. It's all about him doncha know-thumbs down to him and no subscription.

Actually, they were just a bit fast as I have enjoyed this piece often by many players. One minute more would have been perfect as is traditional by most orchestras including Ravels own performances.
