Meet the highly talented Indrajit Sharma, fondly known as "Tubby", in the Indian music industry. He began life in 1990 as a keyboard artist with Lakshmikant-Pyarelal, and launched himself in independent practice in 1997. He is in great demand as a composer of background scores and string sections and respected for his lavish orchestration of melody and harmony. Interesting interview. Waiting for the next one. But there ARE rules to composition and more importantly instrumentation. (Something he avoids talking about?) Of course, in the end you end up bending and breaking the rules. But for beginners, I think he should recommend the importance of studying instrumentation. Atleast in the orchestral domain, this is very true. Wagner, Tchaikovsky, and Strauss have written quite well on instrumentation.

How much music producer charge for background score ? Approx

There is no one answer for this. And like restaurants, there is no menu card either in the field of arts. For commerical films, the amount can vary from 5 lakhs to several crores. Studio charges, singers, live musicians, production costs, sound engineer fees etc are additional costs too.

Only background score for films was mentioned. For tv shows, the rates vary. And there is no menu card or rate card we have to share. Above figures are a range of what we are aware of.
