Entire movie?? I know the background story was inspired from Hollywood western 'The Magnificent Seven' I also know some scenes were copied from different Hollywood movies. Example.: The train chase of the goons at the beginning is the rip off from 'How the west was won'. The killing of Thakur's grandson by gabbar lifted from 'Once upon a time in the west'. Teaching Basanti how to use the revolver and shoot lifted from 'For a few dollars more'. But entire movie? not sure.

Maybe. But in such cases royalty is paid to the original composer & due credit is given. Such remakes are possible only after taking due authorisation from the copyright owner. If u look at any record/cd the composers name is mentioned for each and every song. There is no such thing as copying abroad. You'll be immediately sued. Kindly also note that when there is a hit song many other artists sing their version of the song but this is done after due authorisation from the copyright holder. Request to all - kindly do not support those who pick other people's brains and talent

It is not "inspired" , when they don't have licence and don't pay royalties - then it is copyright infringement and it is a crime! Copyright for composer means life + 60years of creator. India signed Berne Convention and is member of WIPO. The filmmakers who stole those musical composition must pay royalties to the creators.

Once I remember purchasing an album called" take off on ABBA" .a group in Europe. To my horror I discovered that each n every song in it was copied by Bollywood. Some of the super hits of that time in Bollywood , the tune was stolen from this album. I think this is the most copied/stolen song numbers from ONE album. Check it .I promise it will be fun .
