We traveled from Vienna to Bologna by car, with the sole purpose of indulging in the delicious food the city is famous for. With just one and a half days to spare, we made the most of our time by cruising around the old city and eating as much food as we possibly could. Bologna is known for its incredible cuisine, and we made sure to try a variety of dishes to get the full experience. Along the way, we discovered some funny facts about the city, including:
Bologna is known as "La Grassa" which means "the fat one" in Italian. This nickname refers to the city's rich culinary tradition and is a nod to the abundance of delicious food that can be found there.
The city is home to the world's oldest university, founded in 1088. This means that Bologna has been a center of learning and scholarship for nearly a thousand years!
One of the city's most iconic landmarks is the Two Towers, which lean at an angle. Legend has it that the towers were built by two rival families trying to outdo each other, and the leaning angle is a result of the haste with which they were constructed.
Overall, our trip to Bologna was a fun and food-filled adventure that we won't soon forget!
