Ave Domina. Further to your deliberations on the value of training to avoid attacks, the following line of thought may be useful. While I am no HEMA maestro, I have survived this world for some years. I suggest that in any high stakes situation: one doesn't bet what one cannot afford to lose. Faithfully,

Hi, I'm curious about your PdFS - it seems that you only bring the arm to the inside of the knee but the shoulder is still in the CLS position? (unless that is just how the video represents?) Shouldn't your right shoulder point at the opponent? So basically you are in CLS, not move the arm but move the torso/hips to bring the hand inside the knee, which also aligns better with the "end position of a mandritto"? i0.wp.com/nimico.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/viggiani-quinta-guardia.jpg i0.wp.com/nimico.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/viggiani-quarta-guardia.jpg

Hi and thanks for the question. Yes, in our interpretation the difference is only the "volta di mano", so the hand rotates/ changes position, point of blade and shoulder stay where they are. For now this version is what makes most sense to us from a body mechanical point of view (I have to admit though, that I moved the hand a bit much to my inside in the show material now that I take a closer look). But I would have to see what exactly the difference would be to your PdFS to say more, I guess. Have an awesome weekend!
