Hello everyone and welcome back to the channel and in this video we are going to be looking at my Bolt Action Australian army. It isn’t a showcase of sorts as I have made one of these previously (link below) but instead I’m going to be explaining why this may be my favourite Bolt Action army that Warlord Games has made.
As someone that has painted over 6000 points of Germans for Bolt Action, it is possibly a little strange as to why the Australians are my favourite army, even more so when you consider that the entire range is made of metal……and I think we all know my views of metal miniatures!
So we are going to look at a few of the teams and units, how they look and discuss how they painted up. Generally, it’s a bit of a ramble about all things Bolt Action Australian!

Great stuff, been modelling and painting a metal 15mm NZ force for Crete. Yours look great. All the uniforms for Brits and Aussies were very similar.

Thanks Leslie! I like the way the Chindits blended easily with the Australian range as they both have that worn and ragged 'on campaign' look. I'll have to get back working on my 15mm Chain of Command project at some point 😊

Very nice, I also made an Australian army and haven’t had a chance to use them because of the pandemic. As I was watching your video I was thinking how nice they were to paint & base. LoL 😃😃😃

Cheers Steven, much appreciated! Yeah the pandemic certainly put paid to using my Australians. We had just started playing scenarios from the Papua New Guinea book and then everything....stopped! But they are a fantastic range and I really enjoyed painting them 😊

That's awesome, thanks Tom! I'm glad you found some inspiration from them. I really enjoyed working on this project which, given they are all metal with no kitbashing, is a little strange for me! This army hasn't seen daylight for over three years now so maybe it's time for a bit of a revisit 😃👍

@@OnPointHQ you've painted them really well, I'm definitely nicking the scheme from the video you made about them! Yeah, I've come from GW games and though I've dealt with the odd metal miniature, it's definitely an experience - crazy easy assembly for the single-piece infantry, but I think most of the super glue got on my hands when assembling my 25 pounder! Dig em out again!

Nice looking army, i like the matilda, the wounded guy, the guy with the sword the major, the figures are very nice and full of motion.

Cheers Lucian! I really like the Matilda even though I'm not a big fan of resin vehicles. This was a lovely kit to build and paint. The Chindits fitted into the army very easily and gave the engineer section a really unique look 😊

Thanks Victor! I enjoyed every minute of working on these, such great sculpts full of detail and a very unique looking army all round. It's a shame I haven't got to use it a bit more but hopefully I'll get a few games in this year 😊

Ahh this is very true! One video and then back to WW2....I think it's becoming a bit of an obsession now. But more Napoleonics hopefully in the future it I manage to maintain this painting roll with them 😊

Cheers Paul, glad you enjoyed it mate! I still haven't got round to adding that Bofors yet so I think that may be the next addition to the army. I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll end up remaining as Mr Mule 😁

This is a very nice looking force Ste, I’ve been thinking of doing them for Chain of Command when they release their Burma book. 👍

Cheers Lee! They are a fantastic range that I would certainly recommend. Chain of Command in Burma would be a really interesting period to play. I can imagine that it would make for some really tense jungle encounters 😀

Thanks Cal, and yes all metal! I honestly never thought I would enjoy painting the army because the entire range is metal but it was brilliant to work with. Lovely crisp sculpts and every figure is full of character. It's an army that I would definitely recommend 😊👍

New to gaming. Could you make up your own campaign (alternate reality) and say play Australians v Germans or Russians in a European theatre? Do rules and campaign books allow that flexibility.
@OnPointHQ
@OnPointHQ 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, welcome to gaming and Bolt Action! You can absolutely do this yeah. I think there is definitely enough scope using the rules to develop an all manner of 'what if/alternate reality' games and campaigns. The campaign books may not be the best for it as they are usually focused on a particular campaign or battle tending to stick with more historically accurate forces. Hope that helps 😀

What products did you use for the jungle base?
@OnPointHQ
@OnPointHQ 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the question. I use mixed herbs, sometimes called herbs de Provence. They can be found in the cooking sections of supermarkets in the herbs/spices. They are a very generic mix of herbs but the colour and texture make it really ideal for representing jungle scrub or floor. It's easily applied with PVA glue and loses its smell quite quickly. Definitely my go to product for jungle basing ☺
