Thanks Keith! Yeah, I think my motivation has definitely stayed with this project and has made me want to finish it. The M10 kits have definitely been the standout pieces, really enjoyable to work on from build to weathering 😀

Cheers Stu, the M10 kit is definitely becoming one of my favourite kits to work with. They go together easily, paint up well and with the addition of stowage and other bits and pieces you can really go to town on making them look like individual vehicles 😀

Lovely work, dude. Love the olive drab base lips! Very cool idea. Way better than the standard brown or black. I hope to get my hands on that new (well, new to me) US box.

Thanks James, much appreciated! Y The olive green was something I started when basing my Landsknechts and I really liked how it looked. I shall definitely be doing this with future projects. The US infantry box is superb, some really crisp sculpts and dynamic poses. You'll definitely enjoy it 🙂👍

Beautiful! A suggestion: I found that letting the small paint bottles of plastic compatible model paint sit for a few months causing the paint to start to separate out thereby producing some "paint gunk" to form in the bottom of the bottle. Now the paint is easily remixed by simply stirring it with a brush, or shaking the bottle vigorously. But it's very useful to set some bottles of besieges and browns sit long enough to form that "paint gunk" in the bottom and NOT shake or stir them to remix the paint. That's because that "paint gunk" is superb for use in portraying CLUMPS OF MUD especially for smaller scales like these. Doing this avoids that granular look to the mud that makes it look like there are too many stones in the mud, stones that are simply too large to not have fallen loose from the mud. Use a small square tipped fairly stiff brush to scoop the "paint gunk" out of the bottom of the bottles and place the "gunk" strategically in places where mud would normally collect on tank or other vehicle. Try it and I think you'll love the results.

Cheers Mike! Crikey, I'd never thought of using anything like that for making mud.....but I'm definitely intrigued. I'm pretty sure that I have a few old paints that I haven't used in a while so I shall definitely be trying it out! This certainly demonstrates that when it comes to basing, there are so many different materials and techniques that can be used. Thanks for suggesting this, I shall definitely be having a go 😃👍

Good job, there's so much mud on those bases I guess they could be used for Turnip... By the by, have you ever heard of /played a ruleset called crossfire, I just wondered since I'm building of force for it inspired by Lindybeige's videos on it what with you being big into ww2 wargaming. Just wondered if you new of it/ had any thoughts all the best

Cheers buddy, the Vallejo mud and water effect is definitely my go to combination for basing at the moment. I've heard of Crossfire but never played it. Like you I came across it on Lloyd's channel and it looks really interesting. I particularly like the no measuring tape and initiative mechanics. Definitely something I'll look into one day 🙂

What is the philosophy behind basing vehicles? Just getting started with BA and notice some people do and don’t. Just looks awkward when vehicle on uneven terrain
@OnPointHQ Жыл бұрын
Hey, great question. Basing vehicles is very much a personal preference. A lot of people do it to prevent damage to the model but for me, I base vehicles as I think it ties the overall project together. I agree that it can look a little strange or out of place on different terrain types and can be difficult in built up scenery. There's definitely no requirement to base them and welcome to the world of Bolt Action 😃👍
