Thank you so much. Please upload more videos to explain basics like these. You seem to have an incredible ability to make things easy to understand.

Thanks.. Was told SAE= Society of American Engineers. Glad you corrected that for me.. and teaching proof load etc. You're awesome.

Helo, thanks for your video, very instructive. I have a four pasenger car which uses a three 120° marks bolts in the head is a korean car. What should it be the working tork it should hold? Do you know what the Korean automotive manufacturing car code is? Thnaks a lot in advance.

Torque depends on bolt strength AND where it is used. My bicycle handlebar clamp bolts are 15 thousand lbs bolts but due to the wall thickness of the handlebar its torque is 5 N-m. So, you need to find the manufacturer's torque specs.

very informative DO THE SAME RULES APLY TO SIDE WAY TENTION OR SHEAR

No, this is tension only. Shear and compression are different.

i just always assumed it was either "normal" steel or stainless.... Good thing im not making critical applications

Yup, so did I until somebody told me otherwise. Here is some more steel stuff: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kH7Kf4xjnbCjbNE

Don't forget to use the correct washers. Don't use an ungraded washer with a grade 8 bolt.

HOW CAN I CALCULATE THE BOLTS TORQUE REQUIRED IN STEEL BUILDINGS ERECTION WORK
@theoverengineer4 жыл бұрын
"required" is up to interpretation to fit purpose. Could be 10% of breaking strength, or anything, but clamping and shear are different forces, etc.

Are you sure uou explained the tensile strength and the proof load ?? What you already explained is the elastic deformation only !

why not stamp the grade i.e "" 5 "" "" 8 "" and not these silly slashes /
