Fred was loved over here in Ireland any time one of his programs where on TV I was looking at it. Its so sad seeing what has become of his house and workshop in the garden that should have been saved more then some of the crap they want to save around the UK.

So true Johnny...I saw an item on tonight's TV news...a disused railway bridge in Manchester is to be refurbished at a cost of £1.2m.....not for trains but just for people to walk across....Fred's property..workshop, tools and engines were just left to be lost forever....crazy world. Many thanks for your comments...Alan

What an extraordinary piece of precision, craftmanship and artwork. We would do well to rebuild and restore these machines on this basis instead of wasting good money on much of the gimmicky rubbish popularised by modern culture. We would avoid being criminalised by our future kin.

I wonder how much Dibnah's Landrover would be worth. Looking at the ludicrous money the series 1 and 2 Landrovers, not to mention the Defenders and classic Range Rovers fetch today, I'm guessing it would be worth more than a few bob.
@mixwizard23102 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the value now is so high the thefts of them make a a less desirable vehicle to own, regards Fred's Land Rover, my own personal view is this country of ours should hang it's head in shame with not keeping the heritage that Fred encapsulated....instead they let it fritter away to nothing....Thank goodness we still have his Land Rover lovingly retained in all it's glory.....Cheers.

Can either of you tell me the year and model of Fred’s truck? We don’t see much of them over here in the States. I always thought they looked so tough👍🏻 thanks!!!

@@knyfefyte1107 Hi...the uk suffix letter "R" was issued to new vehicles from August 1976 to July 1977 so anywhere in between is as accurate as I can be, perhaps the present owner could provide date of original registration....Best wishes, Alan.

Congratulations!!, for the opening o this museum. Fred Dibnah has been a favourite of mine for decades. I know Bolton, Accrington and Wigan well. I'm very disappointed with your sloppy write up about the museum features. More precise details should be explained about the various machines and displays. Also, it should be edited now to not include the several references to Covid conditions. We all are and were clearly part of the awful pandemic. Everyone has had enough, including your dedicated and worthy volunteers.. Maybe celebrate with an expanded video of the wonderful work accomplished! Rodney Vancouver Island BC Canada

Cool but the 1st steam engine is being powered by electric motors.
@mixwizard23102 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray....they all have auxiliary power as they only run steam on certain day's of the year as generating steam from their boiler is so expensive. At least the electric motors provide motion in between times. Thanks for your comment. Alan.
@StanSwan2 жыл бұрын
@@mixwizard2310 I have seen steam engines that are run on compressed air as you know a steam or combustion engine is just an air pump powered by some form of fossil fuel. Beautiful engine would love to see her alive with steam.
@mixwizard23102 жыл бұрын
@@StanSwan Hi Ray,,. thanks for that....agreed...comp air. Quite capable but the power of pure steam with it's attendant aroma mixed with oil....is something we miss these days....when the museum is in steam.....that's just what you experience.....Best wishes...Alan.
