I would like a case. I have blacked out my Runner and the shiny aluminum would not look right, but if I paint it black it would affect the heat dissipation. Actually that gives me an idea to mount above the 35a controller that sits at bottom of frame…

I've seen some delivery riders with a battery cradle on the top tube with a full battery in it and the battery that's running the motor is on a battery cradle on the lower frame tube. They would have a switch to change the battery in use if those 2 craddles are actually connect to the motor, or simply physically exchange battery cradles when the lower tube battery runs out of juice for the full battery that's on the top tube. For people that work longer hours or live far from where they could use only one battery, that's a way to extend range.

I would like a 2nd battery that can be carried from the rear mounts with a wiring harness kit that is will allow me to simply plug it into my existing wires. That is, I won't need to do any splicing, adding connectors or doing any soldering.

I have a 36volt Ebike and did something similar but WAY easier and cheaper. Stock battery is a 13 AH Hailong type frame mount. I added a bike rack and mounted a 36 v 20AH battery on that. I opened up my controller box and there was enough room to mount an ON OFF ON toggle switch. I found a 30amp one with insulated boot over the metal toggle. I then connected the controller ground to BOTH batteries, the controller positive to the center terminal and the pos from each battery to the other 2 terminals. This is mounted under and slightly behind my seat post. All I have to do when one battery runs out is put my hand below seat, switch to the other battery, turn back on the bike and continue riding. I don’t have to Stop, swap batteries, worry about an electronic part failing etc. only thing that can fail is the toggle switch. So I keep a Phillips screw driver in my rack bag. Should the switch fail I could simply unscrew either battery terminal and screw it onto the controller post and close it all back up to get me home. Only down side is at some point to use the total amount of power of both batteries I have to throw a switch. The system here will automatically “link” both batteries so that you can use the total amount of Amp hours without doing anything or rebooting your bike. Both ways are safe and work. I cringe when I hear people doing what I did BUT simply wiring the two batteries in parallel!!! Big no no for reasons stated by this gentleman !!
@danimayb
@danimayb Жыл бұрын
Great, But a parallel connector is still the best and easiest way. It will drain your batteries together alleviating stress on both, Which equals less voltage sag and kinder on your battery cells.. Also you can eek more capacity all together by running parallel to using your batteries separately.

So my suggestion for that adapter in a nylon Cordova weatherproof bag with velcro straps to go around to see it downtube. Or you could put it basically anywhere else . Basically if you have two batteries on the E bike, you could have one as a reserve kind of like they used to put a reserve gasoline tank on automobiles in the olden days.

Bought two of these and they are arriving today...ON TIME; thanks! Say what you will do, and do what you say - A+ for customer service. QUESTION - Right now we are just changing from A to B battery by unplugging A and plugging in B; works fine. We are going to test your DBPC this on a 200 Miles three day bike ride this weekend on our Juiced RipCurrent S Fat Bikes. Rumors on another DBPC (purchased from another company in March and never arrived - slow/no boat from China issues - F for Customer Service) states better efficiency. We have two nearly identical batteries (Juiced 52v 19.4 AH "A" and Joyisi 52v 20 AH "B" on rack and we normally get 50 miles of range off each battery @ non-ludicrous speed (sub-20MPH Level 1 Assist). Should we expect 50+50=100 range or do you think with the dual battery draw working each battery at 50% we will achieve better efficiency and get "more" range? Also, the aftermarket Joyisi Battery has a front plastic housing that is empty under the cover where I planned to install the DBPC inside. It will look cleaner (I have OCD), but do I need to worry about reduced airflow over the DBPC heatsink housing??? Option 2 is always bolt under the rack for added airflow. Suggestions???

Is there an ideal diode or Schottkey diode in there to ensure pack isolation? Otherwise dubious..I run two packs in parallel via a "2 for 1" diode (Schottkey) and I never worry about differing pack voltages..I charge both at the same time with 2 chargers, when they are connected via the diode, no matter what charge state they are at relative to each other. Downside is a small overall voltage drop, and impossible to use regen with this setup. I have 23,000 miles on my trike with this setup and great for peace of mind.

Great video. Thank you!! Gotta move first but sometime this fall, I want to add a second battery to my eBike (Polarna M4). It has a 14ah stock battery 750 watt peak 1000 watts, motor? I question that bc the highest wattage draw I've seen is 932 watts. Anyway, I get 30-36 miles on a single charge but the last 4 - 5 miles, the stock battery just doesn''t have the same "kick", in fact it's downright weak. I was going to get a bigger main battery - like 16- 18ah, but think I'd still have the same issue, just a few miles further down the road. A second battery makes the best sense. I like your new wiring set up. I'd just zip tie it to a conveniant, hopefully semi hidden area of the frame or rear rack (where I will mount the second battery). OIf you come up with a mounting strategy. Maybe one of those adjustable rubber bandings that bike lights use? That would be or could be, attached to the alum housing?

My first battery an inbuilt one to the frame started to play up so I bought another & have been running the two connected together.When the inbuilt one drops below about 39.5 volts it cuts out so I turn on the new one that has a switch.......so far with no explosions.The odd thing is that it then seems to add charge to the inbuilt one bringing it back into the circuit.

All these controllers do (in addition to load balancing between two batteries) is prevent more Amps than your controller is rated for from flowing into the controller. So using one batery would be perfectly fine

Great concept and thanks for sharing. Would it easier and or safer if you had an A B switch to choose between batteries? My knowledge on this is limited and if this is a dumb question sorry😞

I just purchased a sixthreezero rickshaw with a Samsung 48v 21 ah battery with a 750 watt motor. We are a older elderly couple with some disabilities and we would like to increase our power going uphill and extend our range. If we tire out we will use the battery extensively. We don’t want to get stuck somewhere and run out of power. what aftermarket battery and connector would you suggest that would work for our E trike? Thank you very much we appreciate the help!

How do you charge then both at the same time or unhook then and charge them separately?

Wow GREAT VIDEO Area 13 Can you please 🙏 recommend a product of yours for this installation. I have a e-scooter that's 72V 10,000 watts total that's 5000w x 2 motors the stock battery is 30AH and I want to add a 72V 15AH, how can I achieve the parallel example you mentioned in your video here. Thanks a million

Cool device, just wish it handled more current. I run dual Tesla batteries in parallel (39.2ah total), but you have to be careful to match the voltages. Sometimes I just leave them connected and use one charger, and the second battery gets charged with the first one. For those that are concerned, the Tesla batteries have a common connector for charge and discharge, so it doesn't make a difference to the BMS which lines the power comes in. Charging takes longer this way, but I don't have to keep using the power meter!

Just for my curiosity point. What would be wrong with a double pole double throw switch. Maybe even a Center off. You would only be using one battery at a time. I have considered if I get one of these bikes with an integrated battery that that is what my plan would be.

Hello! I have an 80amp Sabvaton controller. Question is: Can I blend a 52v and 80v together and will my controller and motor (3000 watt) be able to handle it?! Thank you
