They use plastic because the aluminum heats up too quickly and makes that IAT higher resulting in less power. Aluminum intake manifolds also have coolant running through them, which makes the IAT even higher and makes it so there is another common leak point.

I work for Costco & we do have people buy a bunch of specific items just to resell them, usually they will charge between 1.5 - 2 times the price. Except for when the pandemic started, we had people buying 5X of things like water, paper products, cleaners & even gaming consoles, and reselling them for incredible amounts. A few rumors floated around that even some employees had jumped on the opportunity bandwagon because we can shop before opening & after the store closes & even buy items that are still wrapped on pallets for the morning stockers. But in general, it happens like clockwork at Costco, minimarts & coffee stands make up the most of our morning rush. It’s worth noting though that the Costco motto among employees, not management, is to never out right deny or piss off a “member” if you want to keep your job. Once corporate receives that phone call about you even questioning them or sticking to your warehouses policy, from a panty twisted member, you might as well paint the target on yourself & bend over.

I got the exact same thing but with yellow trim for Christmas three years ago. I was actually surprised at how well it worked at first; however, it got hot enough to melt it’s a good hose after some time. Mind you, I never overrode the 10 minute/overheat computer that was supposed to have shut it off after overheating. One fateful day I left it on my truck to air upMy slowly dying tire while we were sitting up for a job. Boss man called with more urgency and authority than normal so we went running. I went on my lunch break later to find my tire was going flat. Then I noticed that the hose was slinging about my tire and had to really let all the air out but also cut the side walls. The unit was nowhere to be found at the time. After attempting to inflate the tire with another machine I noticed that the sidewalls would not hold air at all. A doughnut and no lunch later I returned to work late early to be ridiculed as they saw the whole thing happened and saved that I am a complete moron. Boss handed me what was left of the unit, which I later repaired with zip ties and did use a few times over; however, it never was up to standards of setting the bed on a tire, or keeping up with a small fleet of vehicles. For that you would at least need a $50 harbor freight 3 pound hotdog that uses the exact same piston!!! I was however happy with the battery life as they could have easily fit twice as many 18 650 batteries in the battery module, not all similar from many cordless drills, but compatible with none. It will get up to 80 pounds if you push it, but it will not bring any tire from 0 to 40 it wouldn’t go battery, DC powered or not. Thanks for the videos, cheers!

I actually got one of those for Christmas last year, use it quite often because I have a tire on my truck that has a slow leak. I had a similar one years ago for a field portable/refillable paintball bazooka, it did pretty good considering it never got to quit pumping until it filled 3 liters at 100-120 psi, or until the ni cad battery died. I quickly learned how much energy it takes to compress air at a young age, and why battery powered air compressors aren't very good even 14 years later.

Actually it's better built than I expected, for example there's a needle bearing at the lower end of the connecting rod. Still a piece of crap though. Also quite expensive, even here in Finland (where EVERYTHING is expensive as hell) you can buy a small compressor for under 100€ and while those are cheaply made in China too they'll still be much better than this thing. And yes, they sell the exact same thing on TV-shop here.

I had a vehicle with low-profile tires on aluminum wheels that developed rim leaks. I Got tired of driving to a gas station with an air hose or hand-pumping to keep the tire pressures up, so I Purchased an Air Hawk. It performs great! So simple to set the intended pressure, screw the hose onto the tire stem, click the trigger and walk away while it did its thing. After a couple uses I would put the battery on a charger and I was good to go again. This went on for a couple years until I bought some steel rims and new tires that actually have sidewalls. I still have the Air Hawk for more occasional usage, like airing up balls or pumping in a few more slices of air into the tires when when winter sets in.

The fact that it has a needle roller bearing on the rod throw, and a true wrist pin, this looks like a "skookum"(quality) piece. I like the fact, that it has a cooling fan built into the motor.
