BOLTS vs STUDS

I've decided that I *_will_* go with the Loctite after all. When I inadvertently put a double lug nut on one of the bolts, the bolt came out when I unscrewed the nut. No big deal but no need for any problems.

An interesting fact I learned many years ago about "metric" studs. A friend of mine wanted to install new exhaust studs. So he went to the Porsche parts catalog and it listed an M8 x 22 stud. So he went to a local fastener store and bought some. I get a call later and he tells me the studs he bought are far too short. Of course they are because they do not include the 10 mm (in the case of an M8) thread that screws into the material. If they were sized like an SAE stud, they would have been listed as an M8 x 32.
