Good review, thank you. I just purchased this little bargain for £10 with free P&P for my 12 year old niece (as she is learning to draw manga on her own initiative). Two thoughts: - The "Deckle edge paper" is the raw, original, "natural" edge of paper before it is cut - a relic of the pre-modern age. In contemporary book making, Deckle is just a style that nods to the pre-Industrial era of book making. - Agnostic critique of post-WWII totalizing neocolonial capitalist modernity is a set of antagonisms that course through Osamu Tezuka's oeuvre. Geddit?

Oh wow! There's a lot of amazing artwork in it so it's definitely a good model for that. I guess that makes sense. It's certainly as good an answer as any. I can definitely see that in some of his works so that's interesting that you bring it up.

The frayed edges are such a strange choice. I haven't picked up this title but it's on my list for tezuka manga I'm missing from my collection, but I'm glad to know ahead of time that the books have that. Or I probably would have also assumed it was damaged! Thanks for another tezuka review btw!!

Glad to know it isn't just me that thinks it's strange. Thanks for watching!

I know. I still haven’t picked up a copy because of it. Also I found it a little bit difficult to flip through the pages as I was looking through it. I want the book, but that choice is too strange, especially for it being a Tezuka book.

@@alexbraun3595 Yeah, flipping through it is awkward. I liked the manga a lot so I still recommend getting it but it's such a weird decision.

@@Immortallium Of course! Your tezuka videos make my day when they come out. :) Thanks for making them.

@@alexbraun3595 I kinda hope they'll reprint, but who knows when or if that will happen so thats more like wishful thinking on my part lol. I like to collect as much of Tezuka's work in english that i can, but I suppose this one is kinda near the bottom of my list because of this aspect alone. Which is a shame!

This is such an interesting concept, I want to read this too. I hate frayed pages on books so much. It is a choice publishers make, some people really love them.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the read. I haven't heard of a single person so far that likes the frayed pages but I'm sure they're out there.

I believe its parchment paper. Have run across it in some higher priced editions of books of Steinbeck and Dickens. Personally don't like it myself either. Find it harder to turn the pages.

Interesting. I'll have to look into that. Yeah, I'd agree with that.
