We knew about this video but when Bombardier shut down their JetTrain websites, this promotional video also disappeared until now!
Unfortunately we do not have a quality master but who can complain when you have almost 4 minutes of lost JetTrain footage.

One of the coolest concepts thrown to the side. Could have been a massive success and popular train but was thrown to the side.

although it amounted to nothing new, pal, for it was merely Round 2 of Turbotrain...you'd think the N American ambition would be maglev 💡

Bombardier Transportation was sold to Alstom and it's operating under Alstom brand.

I wish the Jet train could be activated again, that Jet train would look good pulling 6 or 7 Siemens Venture car with the other Jet train on the other end.

Too bad that they use airplane style seats. They should apply those nice seats with lomg forward going head rests so that the people can sleep without hurting their necks.

They should reinvestigate this idea with battery backup instead of a 2nd diesel HEP engine. Use the jet to charge the batteries at high speed and then run on battery power when moving slow/idle. A jet hybrid.

is it possible gas turbine tech can be brought back as gas turbine-battery hybrid by having powerful electric motors to draw energy from battery while using a low power gas turbine just for the purpose of charging the batteries?

Why feed batteries when you can provide more power directly to the motors.

@@themanformerlyknownascomme777 because a jet engine cant run at a slow speed and needs to run at a high rpm all the time to be efficient or be shut off. So when the train is going slowly you are wasting energy from the jet engine.

@rob mausser you literally acknowledge the 2nd Diesel engine, and that isn't a turbine. That engine is explicitly designed to be used at low speeds.

@@themanformerlyknownascomme777 I'm saying to use a battery instead of the diesel engine. Please read more carefully before commenting thank you. The battery would negate a need for a second engine, with the weight and complexity. The system would work like a hybrid car

If it's not electric don't bother you? It's precisely the same electric wheel motors and systems employed by Northeast Corridor Acela trains. The electric motors are powered by a lightweight gas-turbine engine in the carbody spinning an alternator instead of from expensive overhead catenary. But, uh, you know - I won't, uh "bother you."
