I have a 2004 Traxter Max XT and had the same problem with the choke not staying out. There is a friction control nut at the base of the pull knob, under the rubber boot (where it extends through the console). It is a finger tightening nut so you won't need wrenches. You can either roll back the boot and adjust the nut or in my case I was able to adjust it by turning the nut along with the boot.

IT'S ALIVE!!!! Awesome! I have to send Prepper Bob over here to check this out! My 2c below; Buy a new fuel filter, probably cheapest part to replace aside from the plug. Almost a guarantee it is gunky inside. Get a new plug just for good measure (keeping old one for spare, of course) or check gap on existing plug Try running from a make-shift fuel tank, to see if petcock is causing issues Inspect petcock after removing it from tank, to a quick blow through test and take it apart to inspect as needed. They have super fine wire mesh screens on the tank side that is quite likely to be a little gunky. Is this a float bowl or diaphragm type carb? Never heard of the "hot soak" method, interesting! You and I both know there is a good chance the needle/seat have a bunch of gunk up in there. Don't forget to try the "percussive repair" on the carb, in case the float/diaphram is a little sticky! Anyways, I know you have more than enough experience to diagnose the issue, just offering a few thoughts :) Looking forward to the next video!

Great advice, I did tap on the float bowl and while it was running it seemed to pick up rpm's as I tapped it. I think the float needle is stuck closed. I looked at the diagram again, it has a diaphragm and a float bowl. There's a possibility the diaphragm has cracked, I will pull the carb tomorrow and inspect. I removed the fuel line and turned the engine over to see if fuel was coming in and it seems to be flowing well. I think it's all in the carb. I actually lost some footage of the process of clearing the fuel bowl and the line. Basically, I just cranked the engine over with the bowl drain screw open. I could see the fuel flow increase when the engine cranked. So I think everything in front of the carb is flowing. Thanks for the comment, very well thought out.

Good job, youll be 4 wheeling soon. I never drove a Bombadier ATV, living in New England, where I worked years ago I drove a Bombadier snow plow in the winters for 4 years.

Yeah, I'm very impressed with the engineering on this machine so far. It's like it was designed by a mechanic. I found out Bombardier is a much bigger company than I thought. Copied this off K&N website. Bombardier is a Canadian company that can be traced back to 1942. Bombardier Recreational Products holds the brands Ski-Doo, Can-Am, Sea-Doo, Lynx, Evinrude Outboard Motors, Johnson Outboards and Rotax. Bombardier has been known for their long legacy of innovation.

Bombardier Came out with this Model not John Deer, They sold rights to JD, basically JD made it Green and put their decals on it. Originally Bombardier came out with it, it was their first Model into the ATV business. The yellow XT was the Higher end Model, cam with winch, Black Water ITP tires and other goodies, I kinda had something to do with this as myself and 2 other friends took out Bombardier reps and Engineers for a fun Mud ride, They all had the factory Stock ATV's, we had Winches, Aftermarket aggressive tires, and other stuff, they asked us if most people did this and we said yes, stock tires suck and we all need winches, they asked many questions and then the Following year came out with this XT Model. Now Remember this was end of the 90's early 2000, the traxter XT was an early release in 2000. Oh that same weekend all 3 of us won the ATV Pulls, No other Manufacturer was able to beat us, We won it all. Such good times. I need to find pictures of that.

@@TheHandsOnChannel Yes a big company. The Rotax engine is used in homebuilt aircraft as well. Another division of Bombardier manufactures business and passenger jets.

adjust your idle with the choke when it is cold. when you squirt carb cleaner and ether in there there is no lubrication for the cylinder. I wont put that in a small engine. I use gas in an oil can often with 2 stroke oil in it. it might smoke a bit when starting.

I bought one of these. Somehow the starter is stuck and when you go to pull it, the electric start moves as well. I would like to know how to bump start on of these

IDK if there is a way to bump start this machine. My starter clutch went out and I have to pull start it.

Which battery did you buy? I have looked, and I'm struggling to find the right one. I am buying a 2002 Traxter; and I cannot tell you how excited I am to watch this series! the one I'm buying has sat for about 3-4 years, but buying from a friend, so I'm not too worried about the story being a lie.

I bought a mower type battery and it has been working great. I can't remember the specs but just get the largest one that will fit in the tray. Good luck and have fun.

You should just take the carb off and clean it its going to run lean and you will burn it up before you know it not to mention you ran it on an entire can of ether so your seals are probably toast now to so great job

Gotta be careful with the start fluid and car cleaner. She’s a little dry and could wash lubricant out of the cylinder. Use sparingly.

There's a switch down on the side that you can turn to shut off fuel. I think it's the left side.
