Bombing Hills and Learning to Slide on a Longboard

This is our first time trying to slide/freeride. My Landyachtz Evo isn't really set up for freeriding so I haven't done much of that type of riding but I'm going to try to get a setup that works and learn. Other that that we just bomb the hills we can find with a rice run. Footage was taken at various spots scattered around El Dorado Hills, CA. This is something very impressive. I have never seen beginners bombing hills like that, all in an unexperient way but still with so much effort, these guys are really amazing.

i actually enjoy these kinds of videos. it goes to show we all start out somewhere lol. ive been dying to ride my switchblade and try sliding and all the good stuff but i got two problems one: its my last 2 months in college so i have crap tons of things to do before i have any free time. and two i recently got diagnosed with vestibular migraines and if no one knows what that is then its basically a killer migraine with the bonus of vertigo. so i shouldnt try getting on anything for a while and its kinda frustrating. started getting symptoms a week after buying my switchblade so its just sitting there and i have the itch to ride it more often that i should. keep it up guys!

Mad props to the kid in the blue for holding it together during that downhill run I thought for sure he was going to eat s*** when he started to speed wobble you can sure see the Panic starting to build in that hand there when he was waving to the guy in the car to back off Epic ride man but I'd be getting a helmet before you try this again there's plenty of videos that show even the pros have to make the choice every now and then between a rock and a hard place it's easier to choose when you got the right gear on....✌

Learning to slide is important. My brother was bombing a hill the other day and two cars parked in the middle of the road in both lanes just talking to eachother so he had to bail in a ditch and broke his foot.

+Jordan Breitling sliding on smooth roads is easier than chunder, you're problem isn't with the road it's gonna be with your technique, put on some fresh Downhill wheels and try that, it'll force you to use the right technique

I would also recommend getting another board to slide with other than a pintail, just simply because it might have a nice w concave but your feet are likely to slide out of place.

Bold stuff but a bit more padding on head and knees is needed! Around 9'28" was silly-hairy with so little protection. Still, nice to see that nailing sliding is tough... I was starting to think I was properly useless. More practice......

Nice vid, I like that u guys learnt to skate before trying to slide. I see too many grom vids where they're doing slides and shove-slide crap at really low speeds looking really awkward on their boards, pointless. Grabbing the board is unnecessary for sure, the 'high five the air with that hand' advice is good. Try to drift a bit on your carves just by carving extra hard so the wheels slide out a bit. When you're used to it happening on its own you'll learn to do it on purpose/standup check.

tbh if anyone is gonna learn how to slide and bomb hills and wants to get a longboard, i would prefer you go with sector 9; they have amazing wheels and boards. That's just my opinion tho.

There are many different sector 9 wheels. There is no standard sector 9 wheels. If you bought a complete board, the wheels should be fine if the board you got was made for free riding. If you feel that you cannot initiate slides easily with your wheels, I would suggest getting Butter Balls. They're cheap and pretty good for sliding

You can slide on any wheel. Slides just may not be as smooth or long or initiate as easily on some wheels as others.

you can't have both it's either one or the other....you want sliding wheels get venom tweekers or volantes..downhill you want bigzigs or inheats...then if you want a little bit of both you get the abec 11 freerides(my personal favorite)
