Yeah, aren't American taxpayers easy? The fact that the Pentagon can't pass an audit is old news. It was required to be audited like every other federal agency since like 1990. After it was put off as long as possible from being audited, it has failed 5 times since to pass an audit. Although the media did report it, it wasn't censored, there was big yawn from American public. This undoubtedly due to the fact that the military has consistently ranked as one of the most respected institutions in the country. Sort of sick, i think - an institution whose whole purpose is cause harm, death and destruction and call it "defense"

@@bowlsallbroken the sad reality is that the military/industrial complex has swallowed the defense department whole and in so doing has created a massive de facto public employment program; a jillion rank and file employees work for the companies that get the fat weapons contracts. Let’s not forget the $2,300,000,000,000 (that’s 2.3 trillion) that could not be accounted for at the Pentagøn (that was announced by Rumsfeld on 9-10, the day before). By 2015, the amount reported missíng by the Offíce of the Ínspector Generał had íncreased to $6.5 trillíon-and that was just for the army. He missed on big part though: ads by the defense industry is why the media is silent on this. And: the defense industry is one of the biggest contributors of politicians campaigns. Where do you think campaign money goes ? Into the media. Which is an other reason the media is silent on this. Remember how the media was onboard with the Iraq war ? Everyone involved got a nice big pay check and raise even. The bad dictator saddam hussein killed less people in his country as a dictator than the Iraq conflict ended up killing in Iraq. But he killed a LOT, but let's remember who helped put him there: the US helped him into power. So he could fight a war with Iran. The media has become a clicks- and views-driven, which means they fuel fear. In large part on social issues, because that's the dividing line between 'left' and 'right'. Or looking at it from a global perspective on politics: right-of-center and extreme right. Most of the working class agree on the economics, but the rich are in the media and politics and the defense industry.

I heard that years ago that there is no accounting system for the military expenses. And that it is not said that payments are done multiply via different departments. A toilet seat on a B-2 bomber costs 7,000 dollars. And an anecdote about waste here from Germany: When the Bundeswehr/Luftwaffe bought Lockheed F-104 Starfighters, each one was delivered with a complete set of tools. But you only need a handful of sets, more or less one per airbase. So hundreds of toolsets were packed away, never used. My school had an oscilloscope from that surplus, a giant monster. And that is me, a germ (an), who can find that out easily. It is fascinating that a country that has zero threat at its homeland border (or does anybody think Mexico or Canada would invade, or an invasion across 3000+ miles of open sea would be possible?) needs military expenses of the next 14 nations combined. The only real threat for the US are intercontinetal missiles. But instead you have an agressor army, 10 aircraft carrier strike groups afloat, more than all other nations combined, able to reach any point in the world in days, has hundreds of military bases all over the world, again more than all other nations combined.

Kyle, SOOOOO glad you reported on the F35. No one talks about those damn things it’s one of the BIGGEST money pits the military has been throwing funds at. A jet that doesn’t fly, kills pilots, is basically a piece of junk.. but our government (Biden included) KEEPS BUYING THEM! Yet, overseas bases have had their COLA (cost of living allowance) cut completely, free lunches for school aged children cut. Here on Yokota, in the beginning of the pandemic, those who tested positive- were forced to stay in moldy rooms, with out a functioning kitchen or bathroom. But still, we get the most funding , it all goes to the top. Generals , colonels and top brass fly around on private jets, and officers treat enlisted like crap. Not all, but most care very little for those they’re supposed to lead and look out for.

I remember seeing the F-35 crash last week and I literally thought "I wonder when Kyle willl talk about this disaster of a plane?"
@kenmvilla
@kenmvilla Жыл бұрын
The thing is, the F-35 isn't a disaster. Yes, it is expensive, but the one in the video is just one version that has VTOL capabilities. It's quite a complex system and yeah there are going to be some problems. But in reality we will save money with a more universal fighter than several different aircraft for the several different roles.
@flyinace54
@flyinace54 Жыл бұрын
@@kenmvilla I'd argue saving money with a universal aircraft is debatable and depends on it's actual effectiveness. The F-35 is incredibly expensive to produce and run, and if it's going to actually replace other fighter type aircraft its going to have to fly a lot more than it does now, and we will require quite a few more which just increases cost. As well if it's actual effectiveness in a particular mission set is low, then it will require even more aircraft to accomplish the same mission one or two specialized aircraft could. I'd say the only thing we know for certain is the F-35 is simplifying the maintenance side by being only one aircraft type and the logistics side by only requiring the procurement of parts for one type of aircraft. Not to mention the F-35 isn't one aircraft, it's 3 different aircraft all with different parts and assemblies to accomplish the needs of each branch that flies it which is part of why the cost of it has ballooned so. More specialized aircraft also mean more streamlined and give the potential for a lot more cost efficiency on a per unit basis. The intention of this aircraft was supposed to be a workhorse that flies all day every day, even the military has come out and said that's not how this aircraft has turned out. www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2021/02/23/the-us-air-force-just-admitted-the-f-35-stealth-fighter-has-failed/?sh=759533ee1b16 "The F-35 is a Ferrari, Brown told reporters last Wednesday. “You don’t drive your Ferrari to work every day, you only drive it on Sundays. This is our ‘high end’ [fighter], we want to make sure we don’t use it all for the low-end fight.”

@@flyinace54 The problem with that article is that it is not true. The USAF did not admit the F-35 is a failure. The article just says they're looking for a replacement for the F-16 to be used as a trainer, patrol aircraft, get pilots their flight time, and perform missions where an F-35's capabilities just aren't necessary. The idea of using a less sophisticated fighter for certain tasks is nothing new. For example, the F-35 was never intended for the tasks I mentioned above the F-16 currently serves. This is how military aircraft life cycles normally play out. Check out Lazerpig's video titled "Shut up about the F-35"
@flyinace54
@flyinace54 Жыл бұрын
@@kenmvilla Right except in that very article it references how the F-35 originally began with the exact concept of replacing the F-16 and doing all those roles. But now its mutated into something different so we have this crazy new aircraft that's brimming with new technology making it expensive and at times unreliable, but we still have the same problem that we are spending way to much dollar per bomb on target. It's been awhile since I've seen Lazerpig's video so I'll have to go back and watch it again, but my original point is that the idea of the F-35 being better than multiple different more focused designs is still debatable. It doesn't just come down to one design better than many, you have to consider it's actual effectiveness in all aspects, from logistical to combat, compared to more focused designs that accomplish specific goals and see where it rides. I've yet to see a one size fits all piece of military hardware workout yet so I'm going to remain doubtful of the F-35 until it proves itself otherwise. Also, I'm not disparaging it as a terrible aircraft, the point is still about whether it was the right choice to make it a jack of all trades vs a master of one.
@kenmvilla
@kenmvilla Жыл бұрын
@@flyinace54 I understand where you are coming from, and I am certainly in the camp that we spend FAR too much on the defense industry. As Kyle says, just the spending increase alone could fund so many social programs, but instead it becomes a wealth transfer vehicle from the rest of us to the top. I would probably just push back on the idea that the F-35 was ever designed or intended to fulfill those less complex or admin tasks. I'd need to see a source on that, and not from a guy from the Fighter Mafia who, ironically enough, opposed the F-16 concept back in the day. Perhaps in the future when the 7th generation fighters arrive and this becomes old hat. (also have to correct myself, I mentioned VTOL earlier when I meant to say STOVL).

@Hel Lo True, but we used a laser from the 90's. It seems any half decent self-sustaining reaction with a relatively modern laser should get us over that hurdle. Then it's scaling, and power conversion and we are off to the races. The machine was only firing like 10 tests a year because of budget constraints. This seems like a comically easy set of hurdles to clear in the wider context of fusion.

Hmm, they DO tend to pass money thru the M.I.C without ever asking how they'll pay for it. It's always record high's, and increasing. Plus when they tried doing this in 2001, not only were the records destroyed immediately afterwards in 911, but the pentigon was also hit, coincidentally in an empty area, with all footage confiscated. It was a message, but maybe the sender wasn't what we thought, IE: 'stop looking'. Immediately follow by a trip to Afghanastan. Conspiracies aside, the pentagon also has a sector that is separate from the proposed budget and it's a blank check with no limit, a whole different set of books. So this 60%, or at least a portion of it, could fall under (or off of) those books.
