Then they predicted a "red wave" per the polling for the 2020 race, but Biden beat Chump. Here in New Hanover county, North Carolina, early voting is now happening. I voted this morning totally blue. Our ballots were to choose the candidate you want by coloring in a circle beside the candidate's name. The ballot is then fed into the ballot tally machine. The problem is that this procedure takes time and backs up the lines outside the voting locations (something the republicans are counting on, no doubt). Also, here in NHC, there are only 5 early voting locations (Wilmington, a large city in NHC, takes up a good chunk of the county). The only one in the middle of Wilmington (which is about 2/3 liberal) is at a senior center where the entrance road to get to it is also the same entrance road to the local high school, so the traffic tends to back up, especially trying to get out of the Senior Center. It makes getting to inside to vote (where I did 4 years ago, but at a different location today) a time-consuming obstacle. Meanwhile, to the west in neighboring Brunswick county (which is heavily republican, but less populated than New Hanover county), they have 6 early voting sites and are evenly situated throughout the county. So, the republicans are trying everything they can to make sure that democrats are kept from voting, or give up due to time constraints.

Here is the thing, law makers pass laws all the time they know will be struck down, they just want to enforce them as much as they can before it is struck down, it is across the spectrum. Democrats pass gun laws they know will be struck down, just to say they did it and hoping people will just comply with the law and not challenge it. Once it finally does get challenged, it gets struck down but the damage is done. Republicans did the same thing for a long time with abortion laws while Roe v wade was still active.
