I'm new to your channel, this is only the second video I've watched and I'm glad to learn about the good & the beautiful. I just made a homeschool Insta account and they "liked" my video but I didn't know who it was. So thank you very much for this. I'm so impressed.

I love that you said you don't worry about grade level anymore - and you don't care what others may think basically! I needed to hear that. I'm tired if trying to explain that to others AND trying not to let my kids feel as though they are behind!! Thank you for posting this! What islands do you hail from? We are from Johns Island , South Carolina. 🌊☀️🏖️

Thank you for sharing! The Good and the Beautiful LA looks awesome! I had never heard of that curriculum before! Before you even said anything about the sound of the letter tiles, I thought to myself, 'I like the sound they make!' 😂lol, so you're not alone. Really beautiful work in the portfolio!

I’ve never heard of the Good & the Beautiful before and it looks amazing. My son has dyslexia as well. How is your daughter doing with the physical act of writing and also spelling with this curriculum?
@SaltyTribeCo6 жыл бұрын
In an update video for her we are just using the readers from the good and the beautiful for her and doing copywork in a journal. She's really grown in her reading and she LOVES it a lot more now. She finished the level 1 reader and joyfully moved on to the level 2 reader. She felt SO accomplished!!! The Good & The Beautiful is developing a program just for dyslexic children! I'm so excited they are doing that!

You should try form drawing, particularly the movement exercises. They can REALLY help with dyslexia. There is a great book by Angela Lord called Creative Form Drawing Book 1.

Do you find the formal personal finance lessons are necessary? Or do you think involving kids in household budgeting an setting a good example of mindfulness around finances is enough? I’m curious what the curriculum adds that couldn’t be achieved otherwise. I’m intrigued by this as a I didn’t know such a thing existed. What do you feel is the advantage of the curriculum?
@SaltyTribeCo4 жыл бұрын
Well we have always done natural learning with finances but I felt it was incomplete without formal learned when it comes to finances. Hubby and I made SO. MANY. money mistakes that go far beyond budgeting. Dave Ramsey really gets to the root of the issues and helps get serious about debt. Absolutely the middle school and high school finance programs from the were worth every single dollar!!!

Do you have any tips or tricks on teaching a child with dyslexia to read? My 6 year old daughter struggles to learn her letters and numbers. She can count and add but can't recognize the numbers or letters.

Regarding the Foundations of Personal Finance, do your kiddos struggle at all understanding the concepts with it being a middle school level curriculum? I REALLY love the look of it and it's one of my main goals to teach my own kiddos finances, money managing and such that our public schools seriously lacked on. If it's doing great for your younger kiddos I definitely want to get it right away for my own before middle school levels. My two are only 4 (Pre-k) and 9 (3rd/4th) at the moment but it's something to look at next year or the year after. I haven't looked if you have one yet but an in depth review of that would be seriously amazing!

Not at all! I just asked them to make sure but Brie was 9 when she first joined Lorelai in the Middle School level and she loved it and understood it all. They explain things SO well and simply. Brie is now doing it again by herself and Lorelai is doing the high school one. They both still REALLY love it! They definitely make better choices because of it!

Hey love your selections. Your child may enjoy some black history as well. Just remember your culture when teaching.

Always! I am actually quarter black, quarter Hawaiian, and half white. Though on my white side, my ancestors are Cherokee and Choctaw! We actually qualify for Indian Blood Cards which we are in the process of getting. My kids father is white : Welsh. We learn about ALL of our culture as well as all the other cultures of the world. We love learning about all of them!

2 questions for when you get a chance to reply.. I totally understand that real life comes before all things social media.. Q. 1.) How did you find/ create that portfolio cover page.. that very first page for your DD's portfolio that you've shared in this vid. Q. 2.) Your book marks.. do you make them? ie: the feather book mark seen in this vid.. Loving all of the above.. TY so much.. for taking the time to share.. (=

Hey! The portfolio cover page I made by printing onto Kraft cardstock printer paper. I just picked a font and wrote what I wanted. The feather post it notes [that I only use as bookmarks because they're too pretty to write on] are from here : amzn.to/2tJZgGf and I LOVE them!
