Hello from the Basque Country! I own a Finna Landscape, which is the cheapo version of this bike. I came to your channel because of this review but I'm staying subscribed because of I guess we share a similar approach to cycling. Do videos about whatever you enjoy most! (although my favorite video was BIKE TOURING Vancouver, Thetis & Hornby Islands)

by the way, about the serial number, does your number or one of your two numbers start with an M followed by 19 or 20? thank you

One of my dream bike, I went surly ecr route because of this pandemic, got good deal on frame and using almost entirely parts laying on my garage. Thanks for the review
@SirBikesAlot4 жыл бұрын
I really like this bike and I actually got it for a deal from an online bike store in the USA. It was last year's model and it was cheaper for me to ship to Canada than to get a 2020 model, although I wasn't able to find a 2020 model anyway! I was told it would take 4 months to get one to me. Sometimes you have to do the best with what you can do and what you can get!

I saw you mentioned the Fargo and curious why you picked the bombtrack over the Fargo?
@SirBikesAlot2 жыл бұрын
I had test ride one and it felt a bit small. I can’t quite remember but I think the Fargo is a 1x and at the time I wanted the 2x system. I also was able to buy this bombtrack online from a store a lot a discounted price as it was last years model.
@pgreenx2 жыл бұрын
@@SirBikesAlot Thanks. Fargo comes with Apex 2x now. I ordered one, waited two+ yrs during the pandemic and still never shown up. Ordered something else but really wanted the fargo at the time. Thanks

Thanks for the review, current sales on 2021 models of outlaw and beyond. Very tempting.. Outlaw has a belt...

Oohhhhh a belt would be tempting especially if you are going on a really long ride. How much more is it?

Thorough, concise review. Thank you! I am looking for a bike for gravel road bikepacking but which is also suitable for longer pavement trips such as Ragbrai. Assuming appropriate tires were mounted for a pavement journey, do you have an opinion on this bike for that purpose? I appreciate your channel.
@SirBikesAlot2 жыл бұрын
Yeah this bike is a great all around bike. It’s a bit more geared to the gravel side, if you wanted something more for pavement you could go with the bombtrack arise or most companies have a similar bike. Good luck!

Thank you for your video. How long is the stem?
@SirBikesAlot3 жыл бұрын
It’s 90mm. It’s the red shock suspension stem. I think they now make an 80mm version and some that are longer.

those seat tube length measurements I believe are incorrect on Bombtrack's website, and still are as of these comments. That XL was more like a 58cm, as a M should be a 54, L a 56cm etc
@SirBikesAlot4 жыл бұрын
You may be right! I suppose I could take a tape measure to it and check, but it does feel like a bit small to me even if it was a 58.

I m a 186cm tall, and 90 cm inseam legs; and Sadlle a 82cm. What the size recommended me. Big hug from Portugal
@SirBikesAlot4 жыл бұрын
Hello! My guess would be that an XL would fit you best. I’m a bit taller than you but our inseem is pretty much the same. Of course this is just my guess, but I think a large would be too small for you. Cheers from Canada!
@skyrunr3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelolealpt Did that XL work out well for you? I've been advised to go up or down from various trusted sources. I'm not looking for speed so I may go down. I'm looking for more trail performance. I wish I could find one with 650B's.
@jimmypoe4707 Жыл бұрын
I'm considering this bike. The sizing for large is up to 6'2", and XL starts at 6'2". I am 6'2", any suggestions on which way to go.

I'm 6"4 with a 35 inseem so you should be fine with an XL.

I am close to pulling the trigger on a new Beyond 1. I am curious as to how it rolls on pavement? Was considering swapping out the WTB's for Mondials for road use.
@SirBikesAlot3 жыл бұрын
I ride mine on pavement all the time and don’t have any issues. It’s a really fun bike to ride. My friend just got a 2021 Model and he also likes it. I just uploaded a new video for a bikepacking trip I did with him the other week if you want to check out the two bikes in action 🤙

Awesome video. I lived on northern V.I. for over 25 years so it was great to see those special places again. I am looking for a do it all steel touring bike and have looked at the Marrakesh, Disk Trucker, Sutra and the Beyond 1. I keep coming back to the Beyond 1 because of it’s upright frame geometry. My neck doesn’t bend like it used to so I need a bike with a more up right riding position, I just want to make sure it rolls efficiently enough on pavement as it does on gravel.
@SirBikesAlot3 жыл бұрын
@@drewcrowell515 My friend has a Salsa Marrakesh , as well as a Cuthroat. I know that the Marrakesh is pretty heavy, but I think it has clearance for pretty wide tires that would make it more suitable for gravel!

How do you find the Redshift stem with a heavy packed front bag?
@SirBikesAlot4 жыл бұрын
I’ve really like having the Redshift when riding on gravel and logging roads, it’s really cuts out a lot of the bumps and rescues fatigue. I found it’s been quite effective still with the front bag attached. Haven’t really noticed it bouncing around with the extra weight. The stem comes with a few elastomers that you swap out based on your weight. I run it with a higher weight to account for the extra weight on the bars. Thanks for watching.

Im considering getting a beyond 1 as a bit of an all purpose bike. Just wondering how you found it performed unloaded. I do a fair bit of paved, gravel and some single track with a lot of climbing. Not wanting to win races but does it perform decently?
@SirBikesAlot4 жыл бұрын
I’ve ridden it quite a bit on gravel roads and forest service roads without the gear and it’s held up quite well and very fun to ride. The only thing I’ve found is that the steering isn’t very responsive (I.e twitchy) as day on my road bike or by touring bike. I’m not sure how that might apply to other style of gravel/adventure bikes.... If I had to pick only one of my bikes it would be this one. I have some pretty big tires on it (2.25 inch) so it’s not great on pavement. If it was my only bike, I’d probably put some 2 inch tires on or get two sets of wheels. I’ve also taken it on some blue and green single track with no issues. Hope that is helpful. Happy to answer any other questions :)

I love mine. I put 2"/50mm marathon plus tires on it for all around usage. If I went a little smaller might had been able to fit fenders.

Do you find that the Spyres fade out, especially when loaded and coming down logging roads?
@SirBikesAlot3 жыл бұрын
I haven't noticed too many issues, but I do sometimes wish they had a bit more stopping power. When I ride my mountain bike, I think about how I wish my Bombtrack had hydros. With that being said, these work good enough for me and I don't have any complaints.
