Everybody who is gutted that they are lip syncing…you should know that in the 1980s top of the Pops actually insisted that the groups who performed on their show DID NOT do it live. Apparently this was a policy of theirs For a Long Time. I think Bon Jovi have proved more than enough that they are live band, That they are awesome And 30 years later Can Still Rock It!!!

I like that fact that Bon Jovi are bad at lip syncs and playbacks coz it proves they are a live band. And most studio tracks sound better because in the studio you can re record thing, overlay things, change the volume etc. Live, what happens happens. Anyway, Bon Jovi are just as good live as on cds

ofcourse there lipsync its TOTP . all the bands did back then. if you look they got electric guitars and no leads plugged in em .. 1 of the few bands i know who used to play live back then on TOTP were Status Quo, and then not always..

It is lip synced. BUt that's because this is "Top Of The Pops". If I'm correct, all or at least almost all performances there were lip synced. I saw one of Rick Astley on this show lip synced, as well as other people. Yes, Bon Jovi's done playback on rare occasions but they would never purposefully do it to the exact studio album version, as seen here. At least one some of Only Lonely they lip synced to previous live recordings.

you are correct. It was mendatory even for bands, that would go like to go live. Until 1991, there was only small amount of exception. Everyone knew it, it is only show for presentation, and everyone was ok with it. But what is not ok, is legion of "smart" people from new generation, that trying to act like they know everything, and they "detects" that it is playback, and tap their egos, by writing it in comment section. While in reality, making idiots from themself, because everyone knows (except them), that TOTP was always playback, so nobody actually intelligent dare to comment it. They actualy reveal themself as uneducated, while trying to act like smart, because educated person knows, TOTP was always on playback.
