My favorite song of Bon Jovi. It's too bad that it's not part of their greatest hits like it deserved to be. It's heartbreaking & unfortunate when you fall in love with someone who doesn't know you exist.

If I recall correctly, this is the ONLY song in the entire (decades-long!) Bon Jovi catalogue for which Jon is not credited as a song writer. Apparently the studio forced him to include this song on the album. So, I'm not surprised that it's not included on any Greatest Hits compilation, as I wouldn't imagine Jon would be too fond of it...

@@HYBRIDFINN According to the Wikipedia page, it says that they don't like to play songs prior to 'Slippery Than Wet', which they consider their breakout album. That and the fact that he did not write it are two reasons it slipped into the ether. Sad...this is my favorite Bon Jovi song and I was lucky to hear it when they headlined in the late 80's.

1984, 39 years ago. To put that in perspective, listening to this in 1984 was like listening to something from 1945. Which blows my mind. And yes I do, I like Glenn Miller and Helen Forrest etc :) I vivdly remember having this on a cassette taped from my brothers vinyl, and listening to it walking our dog on a crap walkman thing with the worlds worst bright orange headphones. Earbuds were not yet invented. Not sure which I miss more, our dog (and I still do) or the 80s :) Wish I could go back!

I saw them open for the Scorpions in the summer of 1984! It was my first concert ever at the ripe age of 14, and I was front and center! I barely knew who Bon-Jovi was. I was there for the Scorpions, but when JBJ took the stage...he immediately took control of the entire Savannah Civic Center...seriously! The Scorpions years of experience, is the only thing that kept Bon-Jovi from blowing the Scorpions off the stage that night! I saw and thought, the same thing that Richie Sambora said he thought when he first saw Jon perform, which was..."yep, this kids a star". You just knew they were going to be huge! It took 3 albums, but they finally got there! I have been a true fan ever since that killer summer!

We need more good parents like yours! My Mom discovered Bon Jovi when she was channel surfing and Bed of Roses had been released. She fell in love with Jon. She was mid-sixties at the time. She declared Bed of Roses had to be played at her funeral. November 28, 2007 she went to heaven at the age of 81 while listening to the song. Her husband of nearly 66 years, my older brother, myself were with her at home. Her dog children Sadie, Haylie, (dachshunds) Gracie, a black lab and my dachshund, Caitlin-Sadie's twin, were on the bed with her and it was very peaceful. Purely by chance the inside of her casket there were pink roses. We didn't even notice that she was laying in a Bed of Roses until visitation when someone who knew of her love of Bon Jovi pointed it out! Plus her favorite roses were pink! The song became what her 2 dachshunds, Sadie Dawn and Haylie Marie (a.k.a. Damnit Haylie) also were listening to it when they went to the Rainbow Bridge to meet her and my Dad who passed away a year after Mom. I discovered that Bon Jovi comforted them as they were VERY use to hearing Bon Jovi's music. Gracie Lynn though passed away at home in her sleep so she didn't have it played as her death was sudden. They both were great parents. I only wish everyone had the parents we did. If you enjoyed our story please give us a like. 🙂

I never lived in the 80s, but if the most "pop" artists were the likes of Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Whitesnake & MJ, then it sounds like a magical decade for pop music.

I'll add a little to that-I think the best music was from Van Halen's first one in 1978 to about 1991 with Guns n Roses Use Your Illusion. And that's not to say there wasn't a lot of great pop music in there too.

Oh my! It was 1984 when I saw this for the first time on MTV. It’s how we viewed new music groups.I remember thinking how gorgeous this man was and what a voice he had. I was twenty one years old. I wish I could go back to that time. Music was just something so different back then. Artists actually had talent.

What more can I do, there's nothing I haven't tried Still it's so hard for her to notice I've tried hard to be straight There's nothing left I can say If only she would look my way [Chorus:] She don't know me, she don't know She don't see me, she don't care She can't hear me, can't hear Can not help me, she don't want She don't want me like I want her Like I wan't her got to tell her Got to tell her that I love her That I love her She doesn't even know my name I dream of when she'll be mine I dream of crossing that line And holding her so tender Dreaming it could come true So many things I would do If only you'd give me a chance [Repeat chorus]

The 80's were a magical time, especially in music. Even though 90's and beyond hadn't happened yet, the 80's, if you can imagine, were two forces crashing against each other. The 90's and the 70's. I don't know if you could find two dramatically different decades when it comes to music and the 80's were the combination of both. Teen angst pop anthems, experimental synth, old school rock, rap, metal, the end of the beloved guitar solos in practically every rock song and even some pop songs. Those categories still remain but they're the 90's and 20's versions. The 80's were the old guard (70's) meeting the new guys (90's huge artists that were just starting off) and the music couldn't have been more authentic.

@@471mauricioin terms of correct grammar, you are absolutely correct. However, in terms of song title catchiness and actual beauty of the song with the way it's phrased and sung, "she don't know me" is much more lyrically pleasing to hear when sung than "she doesn't know me." Hence, the the slang usage of it.
