I love that first level theme - it's such a banger, and it's great to hear all these console renditions of it! It seems the PC Engine CD one actually has an actual band covering it, and it's _GLORIOUS_

I was surprised they did a CD version, I was expecting a small HuCard release for what wasn't a huge release back in the day. I think by that point though it was cheaper to release a CD version. All the mastering hardware was long paid for, and developers knew the system inside and out. Plus the CD ROM2 had proven very popular so the market was big. Meaning we got great music like this.

The best versions in my opinion: ( With justification) Genesis - (The music and the fact that it is nostalgic) Master System - ( It was the first version I played and it is also the most nostalgic and special for me 😢❤ ) Arcade - ( Level Design and AI ) Playstation 2 - ( I met her a few days ago, but it is the most fluid and optimized version) PC Engine - ( By far it's the version that has the best music, at least I think) Anyway, this is my ranking, remember this is just my opinion. Final notes: BB Genesis - 9,5/10 BB Master System - 9,5/10 BB Arcade - 9/10 BB PS2 - 9/10 BB PC Engine - 9/10 I never played the other versions.

Never got the appeal of this game. Though the arcade version's screenshots in the magazines of the day made it appear quite 3D (screenshots were often blurry and sometimes just photos of the TV/monitor display of the system running the game. Way harder to screen-grab back then). I have to say despite the CPC being my fave 8-bit computer, it's got the worst version here mainly due to how slow and quiet it is (an annoyingly common issue on the CPC with various lazy ports) though it at least has colourful graphics unlike the drabness of the ZX Spec version. Sharp X68000 is probably the best but that's such an uncommon system so I'd go with Genesis / Mega Drive being the best version that's a lot more accessible to obtain and play.

1. Arcade (as always) 2. SharpX68000 (almost identical to the arcade) 3. Playstation 2 (hope the blurred graphics are just here, not on the tv screen..) 4. PC Engine CD (usually not bad) 5. Amiga (pity that the sound effects are muffled - someone did something wrong) 6. Megadrive (the game screen is a bit narrow) 7. Master System (surprisingly good) 8. Atari ST (what a scrolling omg) 9. Commodore 64 (not bad for the little 8 bit guy - the music could be better though) 10. Amstrad CPC (at the end of the line as usual - no music (maybe better so) and it sounds like a PC speaker) 11. ZX Spectrum (the black & white graphics causes a bad mood to me) Verdict: Too bad, there'is no full screen one player mode!

1. Pc engine (music amazing) 2. X68000 (better graphics) 3. Arcade Muy meritoria la version de SMS

Amiga: obvious lack of colours. Seems that at 1990 Amiga is already falling behind arcades, and AGA is 2 years away... ST: same as Amiga with extra shitty scrolling, possibly the worst i have ever seen on ST. CPC: what to say... the screen jumps by 30 pixels at once. C64: looks rough and ugly on LCD, probably much better on CRT. But, runs smooth. ZX: is this Amstrad port (to reverse direction of porting, for once)?
