We had the Sega Master System version. I didn't even play an arcade-perfect version of Rampage until I got Midway Arcade Treasures for Playstation 2 and I feel the Sega Master System is actually an improvement because it has fewer cities and an ending. "Fewer cities" might not seem like it would be an improvement but Rampage is really only fun in short bursts due to extremely repetitive gameplay and I was getting very bored just trying to see each city in the arcade game before it loops back to the first one.

@@Random_Person. Yeah but 3 player is better gameplay, like literally 50% more fun and when me and when 3 of my mates all play together (we only played this game on 3 player or not at all) taking it in turns between levels on the master system version sucked. Not to mention playing on a 1 button joystick felt better than the Master System dpad which tended to hurt my thumb after a while.

@@Random_Person. Always wanted to play the lynx version and try the rat. The zoomed in view though where it's impossible to see dynamite being thrown at you until it's too late. After watching it on youtube I think the lynx version might be worse than the Amiga version (the one I had but I didn't like so much despite being 3 player) the view is just too zoomed in, like you probably don't even see your friends half the time, I would prefer to play the Master System version over the Amiga and maybe even the Arcade. Arcade looks nice, but no music and no ending? That is one great thing about Lynx version I guess, at least it has an ending. I don't think there is one single perfect version of Rampage, sadly.

@barryschalkwijk93882 жыл бұрын
Earlier models had an FM chip expansion.
@homiedclown2 жыл бұрын
@@barryschalkwijk9388 Technically true, but it's a bit more convoluted than that, unfortunately. Sega released the Sega Mark III in Japan, and went on to release the FM sound unit for it. Sega then redesigned and rebranded the Mark III for overseas markets, and released it as the Master System outside of Japan, but the FM chip was not included in that system, nor was there an FM expansion module released outside of Japan. Sega then decided to release the redesigned Master System in Japan, and they decided to include the FM hardware in the console itself. So, the Japanese Mark III has the expansion, the Japanese Master System has the FM built in, but outside of Japan the FM was non-existent. The MegaDrive nor the PowerBase Converter had the hardware built in, so if you had a Master System in Japan, you got crappier sound by using the Mega Drive backwards compatibility. People can mod their non-Japanese Master Systems and add the FM chip though.
