Seems like Salmi would've made a welcomed addition to any law enforcement agency in the U.S.

The range detective Mr. Alley was constantly reliving his own tragic story of his family and the murdering steer rustlers. The rancher, was looking to pay up his past due bills by rustling from his fellow cattle men's association. Both equal murderers. Both hung! What I do like about this episode is that both were caught in the end. Probably in real life, the range detective was always shot in the back and never found.

All you ever have to do is just google "BONANZA s. 9, ep. 17 / EN - whole series" or whatever it is for any particular episode and right there will be the actual title.

*"The Thirteenth Man"* The ranchers are once again losing stock to rustlers and not everyone agrees with range detective Marcus Alley's preventive methods. *Air date: January 21, 1968*

*SOUND PROBLEM REMEDY* I figured out a while back that when they upload videos with messed up sound, little sound or no sound like alot of the ones this person uploaded that if you use headphones or a separate speaker such as plugin speaker or bluetooth speaker that you'll be able to hear every thing normally. I don't know how or why it works, but that's actually how I watch these things and have sound.

Hard to watch Albert Salmi. Years later he murdered his wife then killed himself. Such a troubled man.
@grizzlycountry10303 жыл бұрын
I never liked him as a actor. Had to look up what you said and you're right. Apparently they separated and she filed for a divorce as well as order of protection citing that he was a violent drunk. He killed her then later that day he killed himself. So he was essentially moving around the house with her body laying in the floor.

He was also on an episode of Gun Smoke titled Mistaken Identity,the guy that played Mel Gates that was bitten by a rattle snake was played by Hal Lynch.Hal also committed suicide,he lived in a town in South Alabama called Opp,he wrote an article in the local news paper every week.I drove by his house on my way to work that morning after.I lived 30 minutes north of here but worked Opp.

Nice to have an episode where the plot is a little more complicated once in a while. Good portrayal of the detective. That woman's anger towards Ben while not unrealistic was annoying especially after she freely admitted the her husp *was* a rustler. She didn't see what happened and at that point there wasn't even any evidence that this was a pattern. Accusing Ben of hiring someone to shoot people in cold blood, she should have known better. The writing near the end was bad when the detective started suddenly acting really stupidly. Like shooting the guy in the back when he knew that he was under a lot of suspicion already. In westerns shooting someone in the back is a ticket to getting hung. Even worse his sudden and complete mental break down trying to straight out murder the rancher in front of everyone. But I guess when you're running out of time and you have to wrap things up quickly having the bad guy suddenly become a blubbering idiot is one way to do that.

ever notice that idiotic map has north at nearly due west !? with the ponderosa at about 50 miles by 20 miles = 1/2 million acres !
@oakleysierney19184 жыл бұрын
Not having north at the top is a deliberate choice sometimes, for good reason, not a mistake. Yes the Ponderosa was huge. I remember a line from one paraticular episode because it always makes me chuckle. So Hoss was escorting a woman to the Ponderosa from a far away city. At one point the woman asks Hoss, "How much longer till we get to the Ponderosa?" Hoss replies "Mam, we've been riding through the Ponderosa for the last three days".
@rhymereason34493 жыл бұрын
The Ponderosa was supposed to be 1000 sq. miles or 640,000 acres.
