A Lockport man accused of shooting his neighbor in the stomach and leaving her in critical condition has been denied bond.

That part doesn't matter. A convicted felon still cannot possess a firearm. I believe his immediate defense so as not to be arrested on the spot was because he claimed the noise disturbance was due to using fireworks. And he likely had some on hand to prove his claim. That's a good trick for ex-felons packing heat. You can always carry a few firecrackers and admit to the lesser charge.
