Acclaimed Bond director John Glen on Dr No release
Really excited to announce that our upcoming doc JOHN GLEN: BOND & BEYOND, which looks at the acclaimed Bond director's astonishing 75 years in the film business, is now in post production. More soon.
Here on the 60th anniversary of the release of Dr No John recounts stories relayed to him by Peter Hunt of the release of Dr No and how nervous Terence Young was to the press reaction.
John shares unique insights into an impressive list of a films and TV productions that he's worked on during his career, including The Wooden Horse, The Admirable Crichton, 60s TV series Man in a Suitcase and Danger Man, and landmark films such as The Italian Job, Superman, Shout at the Devil and The Wild Geese.
John was second unit director and editor on three Bond Films, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Spy Who Loved Me, on which he directed the iconic Union Jack ski-jump sequence, and Moonraker. Producer Cubby Broccoli then promoted him to director and for a decade he led the artistic direction of the franchise, directing five Bond films in a row, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View to a Kill, The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill.

Looking forward to this - not only was John a superb editor but when he stepped into the director's chair with "For Your Eyes Only" he completely reigned in the excess of the previous Bond films and made an exceptional action thriller. His two Timothy Dalton films are likewise excellent.

Very true. He served an excellent apprenticeship in British film and TV, as well as three other Bond films before taking on the director's job. He is a great storyteller who literally brought Bond back to earth with For Your Eyes Only.
