For awhile the film keeps you guessing about whether Pelham really does have a paranormal double or whether it's all in his mind and mabey Pelham is an undiagnosed schizophrenic (judging by the opening scene of him behaving crazy in the car I still wonder!). A few plot holes. 1. After having been in a VERY serious car crash (heck Pelham was killed in the crash!) wouldn't Pelham be needing the assistance of crutches, and need monthes of a physical therapy program at the hospital? 2. HOW could the sinister double be showing up all the time at Pelham's work or his house, without Pelham seeing the double right away!

Freddie Jones was a staple of horror films! Frankenstein Must be Destroyed, The Satanic Rites Of Dracula, Firestarter. Here he plays a quirky medical doctor.

It's an odd production, filmed in Hollywood at a set meticulously built like the Old Bailey with mostly English actors except for Power and Dietrich. But all of the English actors had moved to America and died there it seems.

Doris & Cissily were magic as mothers!! Arthur & Olive were my favorite so after Arthur left I couldn't get into them anymore... I know everyone loves Stan but Arthur was to on the buses what Squidward was to SpongeBob...and I'm pretty sure we all knew Olive was secretly a vixen 🤭 sweet dreaming Anna 💖 and all the rest of course 💞

What a lovely man. I remember watching him on the TV from 'Heartbeat' as the grumpy policeman/ pub landlord Oscar Blaketon. I never knew that he worked with Basil (I'm a big fan of the fox on the box 😅). I also didn't know that he knew and was in the same class with John Thaw (Inspector Morse) in RADA.

I must admit, I've never been a massive fan of the actual TV series, but the films are on another level! I think all three of them are absolutely brilliant. Lovely to see Stephen Lewis talking as himself too!

Great memories however hearing stunt players having such serious injuries made me concerned about how unsupervised the industry was back then. I remember Robin Askwith saying how he had to frolic naked in foam (can't remember which film) and they used the fire suppression foam instead of the more expensive bath bubbles I worked with fire extinguisher foam and it's really corrosive, to be washed off hands immediately. The poor guy said his nether regions were red raw for months ! 😂😢

at some point in the series we have a RM doing a skid test. If I remember correctly that was actually a real skid test, using a real RM bus, on a skid pan, used to certify the model for service. Yes, it passed. RM’s were in service for what? 50 + years?

The actor that plays Blakey looks nothing like him in real life. It is incredible how he can change his face for the character. Olive is the same great character acting. I didn't realise how talented the cast was.

On The Buses is constantly repeated over here, last IIRC on Comedy Central, usually followed by The Benny Hill Show, which is ironic considering Benny was Reg's straight man on stage in the late 40's before he went to TV.

His horror work is justly famous, but I first saw him as an outrageous Osric in Olivier's Hamlet. The startling fall he takes off the edge of a ledge could not have been a stunt man.
