Well in Paris there are four ways to get from Charles De Gaulle Étoile to Nation, metro lines 1, 2 and 6 and RER A. Basically all the history of the development of transport in Paris in the last 50 years has been easing congestion on lines 1 and 4 and relieving the lines you built to relieve those lines (hence the extension of RER E). RER A is the fastest, followed by line 1 and lined 2 and 6 take about the same amount of time but line 6 is just a shade slower. Line 6 is pretty nice though with a lot of it being above ground including right next to the Eiffel Tower. Line 1 is automatic so it's very reliable and it's fun when you have the view out of the front (or back)

The Elizabeth Line from Stratford to Bond Street is definitely the quickest route and the trains are generally less packed and more comfortable, the only drawback being the ludicrously long walk you have to take to exit the station, particularly if you get on a train nowhere near the exit at Bond Street. I mostly use the Central Line, but the trains are showing their age and it's like a rickety fairground ride that seems to go on forever. I would never use the Jubilee Line to get to Bond Street, like going to John O'Groats via Lands End.

I think it's sort of worth pointing out that the central line extension on 1949 coincided exactly with the electrification of the mainline route from Liverpool Street to shenfield. This is some of the oldest overhead line electrification still in use in the country and is similar to that installed on Woodhead. Many praise the Elizabeth line for its cross platform interchange with the central line at stratford but it's been there since the 1940s when the station was majorly rebuilt to allow it. I think it's at this point that stratford starts to become recognised as a major interchange for commuters in london and the need to connect a busy commuter line with an underground urban railway before crossrail joined the routes directly. The shenfield metro was planned by LNER and existed mostly as a BR then national rail service from 1949 to the full opening of the crossrail timetable in 2022. I think it might deserve some more attention than it gets as BR ran (at points) an incredibly intense service with complex stopping patterns that might have rivalled even the Japanese railways of the time.
