BOND-TEST for Concrete ASTM C1583

The BOND-TEST is used to conduct a pull-off test in accordance with ASTM C1583, "Test Method for Tensile Strength of Concrete Surfaces and the Bond Strength or Tensile Strength of Concrete Repair and Overlay Materials by Direct Tension (Pull-off Method)."
The obtained pull-off strength can be used for the following purposes:
• To evaluate the in-place bond strength between a repair overlay and the substrate
• To evaluate the in-place tensile strength of concrete or other materials
• To evaluate the effect of surface preparation procedures on the tensile strength of the substrate before applying a repair material or overlay
• To estimate the in-place compressive strength of surface concrete using the following approximate relationship between tensile strength ft (MPa) and compressive strength fc (MPa)

I have a question, whats the diference between this method and ASTM D7234 and AST,M D4541? i think the 3 are the same. Or?

Under what condition partial coring is supposed to be done? I have 3 small-scale slabs in which the concrete cover is about 3 cm and it seems that partial coring wouldn't be feasible. When is partial coring used?

In my mind, partial coring is feasible and should be done always. Of course, we always core at least 1 inch below the interface to be tested. If you perform the partial coring directly in a rough surface you might induce cracking that will weaken your interface zone. Therefore, prior surface preparation has to be conducted using Germann's Diamond Planing Wheel. Germann's Pull-Out Test procedure is the most time consuming but, the most accurate as well.

do you have something to measure the tensile strength of materials in joints? Like when a urethane is placed in a joint?

Those are just done with a 90 degree pull test by hand. All you want is that the sealant ruptures within itself before losing adhesion to the substrate. Pass or fail only.

What kind of epoxy, other than GRA epoxy can be used for this test?

Use any other epoxy than GRA and you will have to wait about 24 hours lol. That would turn into a very expensive test then.

How can I measure the depth of cutting at the time of test? And what should be the depth of cutting?

You can measure the depth of cutting by measuring the amount of spins given to the coring rig's handles. And you should cut further (about 1 inch) than the interface you want to test, which thickness should be a known number by the time you take on this kind of projects.
