Very good vid, thank you. I also think that the enemies being explicit nods to classic horror tropes also gives them a lot of character. Vampires, Ghosts, Fishmen (the Thing from the Black Lagoon) and Frankenstein, with a bit of wolfman thrown in for good measure.

Absolutely! That's another element that gives us a bit of a clue as to what to expect from the Lords, letting us form a little judgement of them and building tension.

I feel like ever since 7, Resident Evil has been taking little cues from the P.T. demo. The baby and mood in that place feels almost like an homage to it.

Thanks! Yeah the Silent Hill music seemed perfect for Donna's personality. That section was definitely a reference to it, as well as to Amnesia and other modern horror games where the player has no means of defence. It's great to see that the Resi series is capable of looking at modern trends and adapting to them.

You were making this hour-long behemoth without a huge audience! Props! Also, you took me straight back to 2005 with the words "school planner". Drawing on those things in tipp-ex, "personalising" them. All the little Permitted Rebellions.

If you want more of the duality with donna: from my perspective each lord represents a different resident evil game (lady d being 1, moreau being 4 and heissenberg being 5/6) or perhaps a different style of resident evil game. Donnas section plays a lot more like a modern horror game with hiding sections and a lack of ways to defend yourself. Seems to me if the other lords represent the past of resident evil, her section represents the future. Might all be theory and coincidence but it would match her character 🤔

Possibly! The Lords represent different genres of horror too, with Lady D being hammer horror, Donna being I guess Japanese-style yurei horror, and so on. Personally I'd be happy with Donna being a one-off tribute to modern horror though, not too fond of that direction...
