They were also very wreckless with his head/neck when moving him further up the beach. Scary, their experience does make me question because they did not all handle the adrenaline terribly well. From his perspective this random guy walked up surrounded by cameras, asked him to take a bag in a fairly nonchalant way and pointed him down the beach. This guy also probably doesn't watch the show doesn't know the lifeguards wear blue and doesn't know what a AED bag is The Bondi Lifeguards knows the importance of communicating a message in appropriate tone but he failed to do so at that time he should of said something much more imidiate "Someones dying i need you to run this down the beach now!!" Then followed up with a bit more clarification of where to go and kept pressure on him to go quickly. But beauty of hindsight could woulda shoulda, he got the kit there and the man was revived. I'm sure the lifeguards reviewed all events to refine their reactions as they do with all major cases down there and in recent years they have been much more clear about communication with members of the public assisting them.

But secondly due to some comments i'm reading i really want to mention that this is their working environment and they are in charge.. who is to say the 'random' layman person is an anaesthetist or a doctor etc, some people just want in on the action, they just see a possibility to be a hero. Being a medic for 20 years I have encountered a countless number of times where someone says they are a doctor. My first question is what kind of doctor (being a dentist or psychiatrist doesn't count), let me see your credentials and are you willing to transport with this patient? 99.9% of the time they back off. The one time the doc was willing to do all that he saved my best friends life who I was responding on after he got ran over by a dump truck on his motorcycle. The doc clamped his artery in the field and saved him from bleeding out. These lifeguards are just that, awesome guys that risk their lives to save others. great save

The only thing you can do wrong when doing CPR is not doing anything at all. Wrong rythm is better than no rythm. Cracking ribs can happen and it's nothing to worry about, a dead man won't care about broken ribs and a man who survived will heal. Gotta think about the situation and how stressed you'll be., I've been in the situation where CPR was needed and even though I've taken several CPR courses where most of them were at highest level in the army and later working at hospitals I was extremely stressed and my pulse was sky high. All you have to do is try
@fankpop38926 жыл бұрын
gris186 I disagree. In my opinion, the reason they took forever to revive him was because they weren't doing the compressions correctly. They were in a panic state and I believe they could have performed better. Overall, they did an excellent job in reviving him
@gris1866 жыл бұрын
Fan KPop This isn't Baywatch, reviving someone with compressions is extremely rare. You use compressions till someone arrives with a defibrillator to kickstart the heart. Compressions are for keeping the blood circulation to prevent brain damage from lack of oxygen which occurs really fast.
@fankpop38926 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know that. It takes about 7 minutes for the brain to have damage (with the lack of oxygen)
@brandonmontie3616 жыл бұрын
Okay so they weren’t doing CPR wrong other then going a little too fast, also your almost always going to break the patiences ribs. I’ve done CPR a lot and about 99% of the time the ribs break.
@melonkami98506 жыл бұрын
Fan KPop you know that CPR is not mainly to revive the person, is to keep the body as “alive” as possible. It’s honestly really rare that cpr revives a person. In this situation it was the defibrillator which revived him

Always always with a drowning victim, take the time to flip them on their side (if you can), quick heimlich type pressure over the belly to dispel water then start CPR. It only takes a second and could make a huge difference. CPR and airway resuscitation can be useless if the lungs are full of water. If they vomit on their back they will aspirate into their lungs and drown further. I know it's not generally taught but it should be. Look at all the vomit running right into his nose :( They did an amazing job, so congrats to them on that. Except for the lifeguard that told an anaesthetist to get out of the way...that wasn't too bright.

are u a life guard no, were you there no, did u only have seconds to think about what to do no so don't tell them how to do there jobs if you don't know what its like to be under that pressure.

@@evebutcher8529 you don't have to be there to acknowledge that there is some logic in their comment.
@yurthepoo4 жыл бұрын
@@evebutcher8529 No I'm not a lifeguard. I have more experience with high pressure, only seconds to think and resuscitation than a lifeguard just like they have more experience than me with water rescues. That anaesthetist on scene has about 5000 times more experience than all of us put together. They do a great job, seem like fantastic people all around and I believe I said that. It's advice that could potentially lead to a better outcome, how is letting people know that a bad thing? Not every situation like this has 6 people assisting and a defibrillator, sometimes you have only your breath and hands.

I am korean and I remember my whole time studying in school from 8:00am till 10:00pm with all the class mates. No time for outdoor activities such as learning swimming. Now I spend most saturday at beach near catsle rock beach where my husbaund grew up. Even though I know how to swim now, I stay in water where my feet can reach to bottom without waves. Water is unpredictable when there is high wind or wave.it's funny that my husband have been volunteering as life saver for over 40 years at beach

Rip tides are no joke... one of my nephews almost drowned when a local rip tide swept him out and while he was a strong swimmer he didn’t know how to deal with rip tides (he was also 8). Luckily I had seen the three nephews sneak out onto the beach and followed them and was able to get my nephew back to safety... what haunts me is that on the very same day, just a mile down the beach, the same thing happened. Three kids snuck off from the adults to swim, the youngest couldn’t fight the rip tide but sadly there was no one there to help him.
