At about 11:00 one life guard asks Jack if he is ok. Being involved in a situation like that is very stressful, emotional, and scary. It is often at such a moment that a rescuer realizes whether they want to continue in their profession or not. Even for experienced rescuers with multiple serious incidents there may be a triggering part of a rescue that gets to them. Checking on your team after a rescue is an important part of the rescue itself.

I am haunted by an incident where I had to do CPR solo for 10 minutes by myself when a man collapsed next to me in the shopping mall. It seemed like forever and I have no idea if he made it but I think it unlikely as he was pretty darn grey when the ambulance took him away. To this day I just want to let his family know that I tried.

Great teamwork on the resus guys. Also a mention for the member of the public who took the rescue board out themselves to try to help. Great decision making in the tower as well, hitting the shark alarm prevented the situation getting much worse when they were overstretched. Would be interested in their own analysis of this resus, doesn't seem like much they could have changed.

Wasn't it Troy who, as a trainee lifeguard, had to pullout a de*d body from the water along with Cory while on a Jetskie? I remember watching that episode years and years ago. He had to hold on to the body for almost an hour and was clearly shooked with the experience. All the more experienced lifeguards then gave him much needed peptalk after the incident.
