@thepoodiesquad5520 The only thing you listed thats actually potentially dangerous are avocados. But you need a decent amount to be really dangerous and it mostly just causes an upset stomach. Still avoid it, but dont freak out unless your dog gets into a lot or eats the skin. Cherries and tomatoes are safe if pitted for the former and cut into appropriate sizes for the latter. As for candy, while its not good for them, unless it has an artificial sweetener or chocolate in it its probably fine.

The reason that no grape ice cream exists is this very reason. Ben&Jerry's own founder attempted to make grape ice cream for the woman he loved. It proved to be very tricky, but once he had managed, he gifted the ice cream to her, and she was over the moon. So much so, that she decided that not only she could have some, but so could her pet dog. The dog unfortunately passed, and thus, grape ice cream was not made again.

Grapes, dried fruits, cherries, tomatoes, onions, and onion family, (garlic, leeks etc.,) chocolate, xylitol, avocados, bones (can splinter and get stuck), potato leaves or stems, raw potato, apricot and peach pits, too much salt or sugar ........... among other things. All toxic and/ or harmful. Always check before you give your dog anything other than proper dog food.
@T.K.TАй бұрын
Why tomatoes?
@seasmacfarlane641828 күн бұрын
@T.K.T Very small quantities of ripe tomatoes can be okay, but stalks, leaves, blossoms, and green tomatoes can cause problems due to solanine and tomatine which are toxic. Sometimes, even a ripe looking tomato may not be completely okay, so some vets advise not giving tomatoes to dogs, just to be safe.

Why not use hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting?
@Kuro_ReaperАй бұрын
A lot of vets don't like to use it and prefer to use a different alternative becuase Hydrogen Peroxide can be less effective; also some animals have a really bad reaction to it where they get breathing issues or take longer to reccover after. Think it can also cause chemical burns but am not sure if that is just when people do it at home/don't get it right.

@@Kuro_Reaper your analogy is a bit weak. Rabbits are vegetarians and won’t eat meat. Dog, although primarily are carnivores, they are omnivorous by nature. Where chocolate is processed, grapes are not. All I’m saying is that your indignation is a bit over the top.
@SOCgirl1231Ай бұрын
These things often happen by accident. When my dog was younger, he jumped up onto the Christmas Dinner table and ate some of the ham. We were all outside and the food was left inside so we had no idea he was eating it until someone went indoors, and we also had no clue that he could jump high enough to get on the table. It didn't affect him at all and he is still very much alive and well 7 years later
@Kuro_ReaperАй бұрын
@@Wild_Bill57 Rabbits are herbivores but the whole herbivore, omnivore and carnbivore is a spectrum. A lot of herbivores eat insects/meat and a lot of carnivores will also eat plants. Bears are omniverous but they digest foods we can't digest. Just because dogs and humans are both omniverous; doesn't meat we can eat the same. Also dogs require a higher meat content in their diets, and humans a lower one and higher plants. I don't understand how this is relevent at all. Most people know dogs can't eat chocolate; so is really no excuse to not think dogs would't be unable to eat other foods too. People shouldn't be just throwing random food at their pets to eat. Today everyone has a phone to Google it before they give it to their dogs, so isn't like they can't easily access that infomation. The fact that most people feed their dogs, dog food, is also another clear sign they have a different digestive tract than humans too. Is also a reason why it's specifically dog food and not cat or pig food we feed them.
