@@rochellealexander8271 I worked for various veterinary clinics for about 10 years. We had one dog brought in with a terrible skin condition of some sort. It was summer in Michigan, and it was a longer haired dog that lived in an outdoor kennel…we shaved down a hot spot to find MAGGOTS. Everywhere. Poor dog. We shaved it as best we could but for the next several days, we took it out for multiple maggot checks. It ended up losing the entire top layer of skin 😢 but it did survive! We took the dog away from those people though. He had been through enough!

German Shepherds have a double coat, which can be permanently damaged by shaving them - and that damage can lead to issues with outdoors environments from then onwards. So if a double-coat _can_ be saved, it's advised to at least try.

It is so cruel when people overfeed their dogs to obesity. Overfeeding is JUST as cruel as underfeeding. We are in control of our pet's food. It is our responsibility to ensure their health. 50% of pets are overweight. That is far too great a number.

I couldn't agree more. It's abusive because these poor cats and dogs can't do anything to keep themselves healthy. It's literally our job to keep them safe, happy and healthy. Don't get me wrong, I love giving my dog and cats the odd chicken, ham, apple, blueberry, or cheese chunk, but never regularly. I really hope that the owner sticks to the Vets advice and gets that puppy down to a healthy weight.

My cat one time tried eating a needle, basically as soon as I put it down it disappeared. we noticed she was gagging, but thought she might have a fur ball she couldnt' get out, as we had already checked her mouth. We checked her mouth again in the morning and noticed the needle stuck in the roof of her mouth. So glad it didn't end up worse! needless to say, I keep much harder track of my needles.

clipping a samoyed damages their fur and can make it really hard for them to regulate heat! of course, it was necessary to find the tic, but if it can be avoided, then that's best for the dog! it can cause hotspots, overheating, or in colder climates/weather, they get cold quickly. they just can't regulate their body temperature because they're double coated, the two layers keep heat in and out!!

North America In the United States, paralysis ticks are most commonly found in the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain states, but can also be found in the eastern and southern states. @tinejensen4783 ай бұрын
Go see a vet pronto!!!
@silverschmid45913 ай бұрын
looks like she has brain damage, likely from getting hit hard by something, though there's also diseases that can do similar things to kittens. since she seems to struggle with balance, you can try keeping her still when she's trying to rest by putting pillows or towels on both sides, so she won't roll around. it should also help her neck heal when she can rest her head better. and if it keeps her calm, that could mean less seizures. there's medicine that can also help prevent seizures, but if you're already using it, maybe it's not strong enough for what she has. she should also be taking things that prevent pain and swelling. if you're not sure, ask her doctor about what the different medicines do. with the dirty ears, you may want to check if she has an infection in them, because that could contribute to the bad balance and seizures. mostly, you need to keep her clean, keep her calm, feed her, and be by her side. there's no guarantee she recovers, but since her brain is still developing, the chances are probably better than for an adult cat.

In the ÙSA we have medical for ticks and fleas. Why don't they hàvè a preventative for these ticks ??
@procyonpaw3 ай бұрын
I'm in Australia. We do have parasite preventative. It's available at pretty much every veterinary clinic and pet store and the majority of dog owners do use it. Paralysis ticks have a level of resistance to preventative, so even a dog that is on flea and tick prevention can get a paralysis tick. It's important to check dogs after a hike or bushwalk even if the dog is on preventative and if a tick is found take them to the vet.
