I also knew the Mildenhall Airbase, In the Early Years has took place The Air Fete Airshow at this Airfield. Last time was in 2001, It's a Really Great Pleasure when an Aircraft Spotter see the B-1B Lancer or the B-52 Stratofortress at RAF Mildenhall or RAF Fairford. I see in this Video here the Mildenhall Airbase have a new Tower. The old Tower was a Little bit smaller. Greetings from Germany!

Very interesting-- I was stationed at Mildenhall in 1962-63, and haven't been back since. I don't recognize a single building or hanger I can see in this video! It looks like there must be 2 or 3 times as many buildings as there used to be! We had two main squadrons, one which operated the terminal and maintained the aircraft (primarily 707s) bringing troops and families in for all the bases in the UK, and the other little one which had only 9 or 10 C-47 Gooneybirds, which were used mainly for trips into continental Europe. It was a very quiet, pleasant base to be stationed at -- then I got transferred to a TAC base in Germany with F100s and F105s! The USAF got more than their fair share of work out of us there!

After the SR71 the B1 has to be the lodest and best sound in AB ever....tried to look in one at Farnborough,co pilot told me they have a set service group and all have high security passes just to clean in them...they carry so much top secret gear you need a top security pass to even touch one....cant say I blame them considering what the Bone is intended for.

Isn't Kalitta air, part, or fully owned by the same people who run a dragster team?
@anglosaxon16226 жыл бұрын
Correct, Connie Kalitta is the owner of the team which currently runs top fuel dragsters and nitro funny cars. Connie now retired from driving himself, can usually be seen at the start line when his team cars are making their runs.

I'm glad the USAF bought the Boeing tanker instead of the Airbus tanker. Boeing aircraft are much better looking than Airbus aircraft.
