When I was a kid derbies ran on dry, paved tracks, absolutely no mods to the cars, and no such thing as a red flag ever. Those were the days. I remember a car catching fire once and they just let it burn until there was a winner.

That’s how people get hurt or die and I don’t think they ever let a car burn at any promotion also even in the early days they had cages on the inside whether it was a dash bar or seat bar even a 4 pnt
