Not much is known about dead fm the game either, except that the main character of the game is jimmy. Before boneworks SLZ planned on making a game called hall of the machine king. This game was too big so the split it into 2 parts with 1 part being titled Dead Fm. Dead Fm was again too large so they split it into 2 parts with one part called boneworks. Boneworks was again too big so they split it into 2 parts with one part called Bonelab. Bonelab was also too large but instead of splitting it into 2 separate games, they took half of the game and put it into an update of sorts called B-Side.

The system clock was so scary because I didn’t really fully know what it was and it had sirens it was huge so I didn’t know also I want to unlock the minus gun so I can fly around the tower level it looks so cool but you can’t really explore you have to go where your supposed to

So I found a small error in the lore here. The first one is relatively simple the lifting started sending weapons with a limited 20% variance so a tree axe became a battle axe. There is a clipboard in the shipping room where they note that for some reason monogan has been inexplicably sending firearms and military grade equipment into Fantasyland. Then in The mineshaft the Fantasyland NPCs state that they discovered exotic weapons within the mineshafts and they've been collecting them and hoarding them since the heretic began exploring the catacombs of below after surviving.

The second one is you miss most of the lore at the end. Taxi cab wasn't just bringing us anywhere in the void he brought us to the city. But not any City he brought us to a tesseract City which is a simulation of SLC and their desire to make a futuristic fantasy land. You also miss the entire SLz plotline, which appears to be integral to discovering how to get to side B which is the second half of the campaign that is not yet released. It is also worth noting that we get a complete cryptid list at the monolith as well as hence into what machine King will be about and possibly even a protagonist or at least an important character because apparently the Avatar is the protagonist for machine King. You also completely missed the involvement of the eye which is been around and Bone works and apparently has an appearance in duck season. To get you started on that track grab any cultist with your hands. Congrats you just found a new rabbit hole to go down have fun.

On the cat theory of corrupted nulls, it's an interesting theory. The watermelons are fermented "infinitely" for an "eternity" which definitely would involve exploiting the cat's abilities. However I do not believe their intelligence is attributed to this. The nulls at the end are not corrupted by melonbelly but are supposedly sentient and conspiring to do something. It does not involve the cat, however. During Boneworks for the instant of the explosion in Ford's break room, the cat is motionless and powerless. With the system clock frozen, all that the cat can do is equally rendered untenable. Furthermore in Bonelab not only does the cat clock function, it can mess with you. Sometimes it stares, sometimes it will alter the displayed time which is intended to be real life time, by accelerating the hands or rewinding them, and sometimes the hands even point into the environment (usually toward a nearby ID card). But, similar to the Eye thing before, the Nulls frequently illustrate themselves on the wall with a giant blue eye over their heads, and the polygons stripping away from the body while in a sort of ascension pose. Frequently this was depicted in Boneworks. This blue eye is in Bonelab watching us on the main menu, under the floor. If you explore and wander the void long enough it reveals itself by rendering on top of the floor, where you will see it occasionally open and close. In terms of sentience, all Nulls are becoming sentient over time. Fantasyland is being used to watch this process. Those obsessed with Melonbelly end up developing a purple hue with green internals, and actually seem to be becoming sickly. I suspect this is becoming an addiction. Corrupted Nulls in Bonelab however do not become sick. Their idle animations do not imitate nulls but living NPCs, their attacks indicate the gaining of powers, and their new texture has hints of void to them. They can consider anything hostile to them to be a threat. Their appearances are not tied to the presence of melonbelly, and in what few melonbelly operations that can be found, it's regular Nulls not corrupted that appear there. Corrupted Nulls for some reason seem to be a low priority to Cultist AI. This is something that I need to look further into because cultists are the only beings so aggressive they will kill each other, and they are invisible to hazmat projectors.

Hey thanks for taking the time to correct some of these. Can you tell me where you learned about all of this (besides the eye thing)? I didn’t see any mentions of this in the SLZ Discord or on online discussions/other lore videos for Boneworks and Duck Season. I definitely could have missed it. I also forgot to include why the villagers were trying to execute you in the beginning of the game - because they caught you using the avatar swapping ability which they consider to be dark magic of those pesky underdwellers 😂. And is there for real more campaign coming to BoneLab? I’m hype af for that… i wonder if they’re adding more because people complained the campaign was even more bare bones (HAHAHA get it? Bare BONES??) than Boneworks 😅

@Harknesius I'll be honest, I've done very little 'going onto the discord/wiki' and used just what could be found in the games themselves. Every clipboard, every wall scrawling, and because it's a "show don't tell style", notes on what is where. As for why they are executing you, it's anyone's guess. You might notice they executed a lot of NPCs. But by the end of the game literally every tenant is likely to be broken by the player. The beginning is a void dream, in which a non-corporeal entity gives the dice to a random NPC about to be executed. This much was confirmed in another lore video with a since deleted quote from Alex. Your avatar is random because it could've been any npc. As for the campaign, there was the original message in the info-about stating the game is just a vertical slice (minimum viable product/demonstration) of the final product. There are many missing features as stated on the Twitter, like 6dof at all times (get knocked on your ass), full body tracking, etc., And the statement that the game has been split in two parts. The main menu states that your journey may seem like it has ended but it just began. J states he is taking you to the City. If you explore the monolith it tells us all sorts of stats about this city. Inside that monolith is a city containing the in universe's Science Fiction fantasyland. On the top, it has instructions on how to reach the B side. It tells us that somehow out there in the void is a TV and a plant, which has a card shaped thing under it. Prior to the patch it was possible after forceful exploration to rediscover the elevator, except a lot of the lore telling debris is then missing and in its place is a card key lock preventing entry. It has since been placed under the floor. On the quest version you can still see the baked in shadow. The blue light is an eyeball. It took me thirty seven minutes of exploring before it revealed itself. But it may have been revealing itself sooner without me noticing. If you use a super tall avatar you can force it to render above the floor, as it renders a set distance away.

To my knowledge, the "Machine King" may not be an actual character, but more of a metaphor or reference to something. The Hall of the Machine king is likely to be SLZ's next game, and in that game you play as a Sabrelake agent who's sent to a mining operation that's run by robots. Those robots are basically starting to gain sentience and are starting to form an uprising, so you're sent there to silence tf out of them. The "Machine King" may be referring to an AI called GodAI that is causing all of these robots to gain sentience/free will

Some people really just want the story to be spoon fed to them and focus on just the action of the gameplay. Personally I enjoy types of games with stories like BoneLab - and actually even moreso Boneworks. They encourage TONS of discussion/discourse from people who want to learn more about the story and solve the puzzle together. Almost like ARGs
