I forgot just how many great episodes there were in season 3. You've got the Max Brennan episodes running throughout, the Gormogon Killer episodes running through out, and then excellent "murder of the week" episodes. Just a great show.

If I'm not mistaken this was the first episode they filmed after the end of the 2007 Writers Strike. You can tell there was a time skip in filming from the earlier parts of the season from the sudden change in Zack's hair compared to the previous episodes (not counting the literal previous episode about the dead basketball player since that was delayed for different reasons).

This is such a great episode! I love the way Bones does their trial episodes and they're always such a nice change of pace. Story-wise, I love that Max beat the murder charge, though it does feel a bit unbelievable. Character interactions in this episode are gold. Definitely one of the best in season 3!

The “crazily competitive” scene is great. Especially Zack. The judge dealing with Booth and Brennan in the courtroom will never not be funny. Another great Max episode. -“A country full of unscrupulous lawyers and you find the one guy with scruples.” Speaking from character arc, I appreciate that they went with Brennan being the potential murderer as the alternate story. But from a story perspective it shouldn’t have worked. Too many of the murder details reflected in known killings by Max, details Brennan couldn’t know, were at the crime scene. It would have made more sense to claim a frame job. I really love David’s acting during Booth’s recognition moment on the stand. And the silent exchange between him and Brennan as she smiles in understanding and appreciation. Angela is the standout of the trial for me. Very consistent with who she is. -“friends don’t send friend’s fathers to the electric chair.” “This is one of those times where I know what’s right and everyone else is confused.” “Okay, you're not Dr. Brennan today. You're Temperance.” “I don't know what that means.” “The scientist part of you got sidelined, temporarily.” “I still don't know what that means.” “Bones, just take the brain. Okay? And put it in neutral. Take the heart, and put it in overdrive.” “Sometimes I think you're from another planet. (beat) Sometimes I think you're nice.” - I’ve heard a lot of brain vs heart monologues and dialogue moments in cinema, TV, and books; this is my absolute favorite. GOLD to the nth degree.

I really like this episode and besides episode 1 and 9 this is also my favorite,all the guest stars like Max , Carolyn,Russ, Sweets,we also got Clark and Carolyn's ex husband I just love returning characters.The whole "brain and heart" thing was so adorable and seeing her fighting to save her dad from prison by rationalizing why in her on way was great,I also love Angela she is really good friend,I love as always scenes with Booth ,Bones and Sweets great trio in my opinion.Great reaction as always
