I just found out on Beatos channel not 20 minutes ago!! Tim is a beast, what-a-solo! All this time I thought it was Sambora. Wow. I hear his style in it-it's him! First I found out about his playing on "Don't Dream It's Over" awhile back, now this! Damn impressive! This is a song I've loved all my life, had a blast covering it in the clubs and I have Tim to thank! Is there a list of all the hits he's played on somewhere?
@jamesbarrick3403Ай бұрын
@@alansmith9948it's not sad. That's just the way things line up when you're a nobody trying to make it to the top. John did not have a record deal when he made this hit. He was progressing the best way he knew how and what the hell the guy did good. Same goes for Tom Schultz with Boston. Who recorded the whole damn album himself. I think the song is about the love of a father the girl hasn't grown with and that she searches for her hole life on the streets or everywhere, even if she is not that girl who wears plastic, she thinks boys can give her that love but nothing compares to a father love. And her father realizes just now, when he's lost her, that he has made a hole in both their hearts.

I was in my dorm room at Seton Hall University hanging out with my roommate, and this local Jersey rock station mentioned that they have "something new" that you must hear, and then they played this masterpiece from a local, up and coming (their words) Jersey band called 'Bon Jovi'. I remember listening to this song at 11 & 12, finally got the courage to runaway from home. Lived on the streets, did hard drugs as a 15/16 year old and finally came back home when I realised that although I felt invisible, unseen and was physically abused at home, that in the end my parents did love me and this was evident by the lack of love I received on the streets, and seeing adults that were selling amphetamines and heroin for IV drug use to teens, that this was a cold and evil world where a youth didn’t belong. I would listen to this song on repeat because it made me feel validated and seen, and understood. Until today I still feel emotionally connected deeply to this song which gave me a feeling of being seen in a silent and lonely situation with the only way out being to Runaway, so I did, many times in my life to be fair. I’m 47 now, and now I’m running from different things, luckily not to the streets anymore. I’m always so grateful for this song for giving me validation and understanding as a confused, scared and emotionally lonely kid when I needed healing and to be heard. Thank you Bon Jovi, that lost, little girl is forever grateful today for such a soul connecting song 🤍

Thank you for sharing your story. I also play this a lot because it's emotionally strong and touches a subject rarely covered by pop music. Luka by Suzanne Vega is another one in the same vein.

Almost 40 years, and I still feel the same Buzz I did when I was rocking to this song in 84 and beyond. My band covers this tune, and I love playing it. Tim Pierce played the guitars when they recorded it at The Power Station, before RS was in the band. So good !

On the street where you live girls talk about their social lives They're made of lipstick, plastic and paint, a touch of sable in their eyes All your life, all your life all you've asked when's your daddy gonna talk to you But you were living in another world tryin' to get your message through. No one heard a single word you said. They should have seen it in your eyes What was going around your head. Ooh, she's a little runaway. Daddy's girl learned fast All those things he couldn't say. Ooh, she's a little runaway. A different line every night guaranteed to blow your mind I see you out on the streets, calling for a wild time So you sit home alone 'cause there's nothing left that you can do There's only pictures hung in the shadows left there to look at you You know she likes the lights at night on the neon Broadway signs She don't really mind, it's only love she hoped to find Ooh, she's a little runaway. Daddy's girl learned fast All those things he couldn't say. Ooh, she's a little runaway. (Guitar duo and drums) No one heard a single word you said They should have seen it in your eyes What was going around your head. Ooh, she's a little runaway Daddy's girl learned fast All those things he couldn't say Ooh, she's a little runaway Daddy's girl learned fast Now she works the night away Ooh, she's a little runaway Daddy's girl learned fast All those things he couldn't say Ooh, she's a little runaway Daddy's girl learned fast Now she works the night away

This is my personal opinion so please be kind! I feel that rock is like an old man trying to keep up with times trying to sound like he used to but he cant! Too many wanna be rock bands screaming and yelling about the same things over and over songs with meaning but not a soul. The only ones that carried the tourch in my opinion are the ones i ve mentioned. In the 80s you were hearing rock or metal and you could feel the energy and the vibe you wanted to get loose. Now its all technical and if you dont do this or that you are not rock. Let it sleep for some time so people can miss it and then boom a new era!
