I can get why the creatures from the Imagine Critters section aren't a bunch of humans or elves or what have you reimagined as bloomburrow animals, as you'd either have a weird disconnect between the art and the creature types or you'd have mechanically different versions of existing cards. You can get away with changing a planeswalker's art into an animal as they don't have creature types, but it's just weird to do it with creatures.

I think Frogs is the deck mightcaller is worse in. Frogs very much feel like a control tribe and mightcaller doesn't support that gameplan at all. I also don't think there's a reason to go all-in on frogs like the other tribes. You'll certainly put multiple frogs in your deck if you're going for a bounce game plan since they work well together, but I think there are better blink targets and blink enablers in standard that you'll use over the weaker frogs. While in mice you'll be playing worse cards than generically good ones BECAUSE they're mice.

frogs, and therefore simic, are going to be basically unplayable not only in standard, but even in limited. you'll end up with a critical mass on frogs and cards, in your hand, weakly doing nothing but putting more frogs and cards into your hand. Otters won't be good either. Too many creatures needed to make it a good spell slinger deck. Once again, aggro and go wide aggro has everything and fun decks have trash. *snore*

Okay you just have to bounce it in your next upkeep and you don't get to draw What about skip t1 and play dour in t2 into the simic legend in t3? You can bounce the dour once again but you get nothing for it, so you don't do it Cards just don't synergize with each other, if they see any play at all it's going to be in a ETB sort of deck, but probably that's a stretch too

I feel like a major thing most people are forgetting about Portent of Calamity is that we'll still have a whole bunch of discounting effects in standard post-rotation, including Mindsplice Apparatus. So the cost issue isn't as big of a deal as people are thinking. Having Portent and maybe Flow of Knowledge can cover Sorcery, Witness Protection and One with the Multiverse can fill enchantments, your usual suite of counterspells for instants, Cityscape Leveler and Surge Engine cover creature and artifact (plus Mindsplice Apparatus ofc), and then finally lands are a given. The main issue is that while there's no shortage of Artifact Creatures to pull double duty, it looks like after rotation we'll have a whole 2 Enchantment Creatures for the same purpose and neither is in blue.

Problem with that is you are filling your deck with non-instant/sorcery cards while playing mindsplice apparatus. Furthermore, why do you care about the free spell if you have a massive discount from Apparatus already? Then a simple draw spell might just be better.

The second ability on Scavenger's Talent is interesting because it doesn't specify what kind of permanent. Could be a treasure token, food token, creature - whatever. Not sure off the top of my head what combo that might open up, but seems cool. I was thinking about Warren Soultrader because you kind of get double mill triggers for the treasure and the creature sac if you have something like Gravecrawler out. Of course you lose a bunch of life repeating that but I think you could mill an opponent before killing yourself.

Eluge immediately made me think of ways to give it islandwalk so it can attack in peace and keep groving. Turns out it is easier to "just" make it unblockable. The first ability of scavengers art with camellia, seedmiser, makes a good basis for going infinite You just need some kind of sacrifice outlet for creatures and food. Fountainport makes me think that there is a hidden fish tribe in the set. Blacksmiths talent seems really good. Equipment decks would love to include this.

the only thing in favor of playing festival of embers instead of any other options to flashback your graveyard instants and sorceries is it allows to cast them by using their alternate costs if they have any (like overload). Festival of embers is expensive but hear me out. If you have eluge in play and 5 lands...there's an instant or sorcery from bloomburrow that lets you blink a creature for 1 blue. If you have 2 of these in hand.. you can blink Eluge 4 times for almost nothing..reducing spell cost by 5 blue or colorless. Not bad!!!

Yes, because the ‘dying’ effect is completely replaced, so they never ‘died’. This won’t circumvent the ‘one or more’ clause if they die in combat or from a wrath, but it does let you draw a card.

"Dying" in MTG is defined as a creature (or planeswalker) moving from the battlefield to a graveyard. Rest in Peace, Leyline of the Void and Dauthi Voidwalker instruct you to move the card to exile INSTEAD. Important word there. It's a replacement effect that prevents the moving to the graveyard. Didn't move from the battlefield to the graveyard? Didn't die.

when you cast the spell, all prowess triggered abilities will go on the stack. you can then resolve them. after that, you can copy the spell, as long as it hasnt resolved yet. you can do this on arena by holding full control (shift + ctrl).

Yeh, what seth was saying about attacking with it then copying a spell after. What you can actually do is Cast an instant or sorcery. Prowess. Go to combat, attack with Kitsa. Cast an instant, which puts the 2nd Prowess trigger on the stack. Resolve the Prowess trigger, then pay 2 and tap to copy the Instant while it's still on the stack.

My issue with Scavenger's Talent is that the last trigger is an "IF you do", not a "WHEN you do". Were it a WHEN, you could mill yourself 6 more cards to find something spicier to pull out of the yard. But as is, you'd get something out of your yard before you'd even choose who to mill.
