Nice man! Coincidentally, I was there too and also did NYC back in 2022. The flat course grinded me down (same muscles pounding every step) and my entire body as a cramp by the time I hit the blue. Your video really took me back. Good stuff and congrats!!

Haha wow! I bonked too at a similar point and came in at 4:34:10... I remember being overtaken by the Mario brothers on that same street, so we must have been very near each other for a lot of the race 😂 But yeah. Good work getting through it man. And I feel your pain! It's brought it all back again to watch your footage, especially because our similar pace meant that the music/stuff going on at key points on the track was exactly as I remember it too! Thanks for making this and uploading. Everything you say in the video, especially regarding the hell-on-earth nature of bonking out, is taking the words right out of my mouth 😂

Good effort mate, well done. I remember running a half marathon while in the military (and supposedly fit) and finding it a big struggle. Maybe the cycling content is easier?

Firstly congratulations on completing your second marathon, running this one so soon after New York is impressive. Looking at your 10k PB on Strava you should be more than capable of getting a sub 4 hour marathon. With all the cycling you’ve been doing you should have a strong aerobic base. As you said what you lack is consistency, ideally during training you should be looking to be doing 4-5 runs a week with a mix of easy, tempo and longer runs.

Ben, firstly congrats with a PB, If it was easy everyone would be doing it, secondly you are right 👍 you need to get the right training nailed to make life easier on yourself, looking at your Strava you need to do longer runs, to build up Stamina & endurance, like you have for your cycling. PS you hit the wall, you did not bonk, bonking is way worse, you would not of finished, so again WELL DONE on completing a Marathon. From a fellow Marathoner at 4+ hour mark
@davidgunther128210 ай бұрын
Maybe take a gel every 30 min vs. every 40? This would give you 8 gels consumed at the 4 hour mark vs. 6, which is like what, an additional 120 grams of carbohydrates or something? If you actually did hit the end at 4 hours you’d take your last gel at 3:30 so in reality it would only be 7 gels consumed not 8 but every 40 only gives you 5 gels at the 3:20 mark. Something to think about.

100%. A young, slim fella like this should be hitting 3.30 easy if he spent more time training and less time making over-produced videos about running slowly.

Kinda harsh.. Not all runners are able to hit fast times but for someone starting out in running and being able to complete a marathon in sub 5hrs is decent. @@harveydean7952
