crazy lineup. fantastic rendition of a great song. oldham has some strangely powerful stage presence.

Matt Sweeney from Chavez on guitar, brother on bass, Jim White from Dirty Three on drums and Classicly trained andrew wk on piano. WOW. That is an amazing line up.

Only Conan has the taste and stones to put an artist like this on his show. There is no way NBC would support this kind of music and BPB's performance without the support of O'Brien.

Kurt Vonnegut described the combined effect of artists across all disciplines to bring about the end of the Vietnam war through their work as that of "dropping a flan from a step ladder". This led him to conclude that the new function of art is let you know you are not alone. Will Oldham works for me...

He mentions that the guest that night was Johnny Knoxville.. That crew has always been pretty plugged into the indie art/music scene, for instance specifically: Lance Bangs who directed Jackass 1&2 also directed Breadcrumb Trail (the Slint documentary). He has also worked with Andrew WK, so I bet the connections came from their end.
@robertm40507 жыл бұрын
Will Oldham was in one of the Jackass movies and played an animal trainer.

And in Jackass Number Two (2006) someone on-screen wore a HOPE shirt (Palace Songs EP). If it wasn't the director making a cameo then the cast members were fans too.
