I knew Bonnie was the real deal when I first saw her in 1977. I just couldn’t figure out why it took the rest of the world forever to recognize her greatness. She’s one of the finest musicians to ever grace the stage. AND SOUL, GOOD GOD!!! She’s loaded with it. She will be remembered a long long time after she has gone.

A constant for me with Bonnie is that she has those extra chops and confidence on reserve in a back pocket that never needs to be drawn. She is a woman who has loved, lost, and loved again. You can't put a "good Bonnie" down.

If you have never seen Bonnie Raitt live then I recommend you do. My husband and I saw her in Eugene, Oregon last Summer. Listening to her play live is just like listening to albums. We took a friend with us to the concert, he was a big fan of Bonnie when the concert was over. Smart man!!

I met Bonnie briefly in the early 80s because I was friends with someone working for her. She didn't seem her best in those days, but I knew she'd recover and go on to greatness, and so she has.

@lloydhannemann68633 жыл бұрын
@Bonnie Raitt Good morning Bonnie! I’m surprised to get an actual reply from you, but then again it confirms your always being consistently humble and caring. I first discovered you watching the No Nukes concert film in the Pillow Theater in Monterey, California. I heard your amazing voice and incredible guitar emanating from your radiant soul and was an instant fan. The very next day I bought my first Bonnie Raitt album, Sweet Forgiveness. I loved and love every single song. A couple years later or so, I saw you in concert in Seattle at the Bumbershoot festival. Stevie Ray Vaughan had played before you, and I caught just the very tail end of his set. You came on stage and sincerely praised him. I thought, “How cool that she talked so highly of him when he is lesser known than her.” You not only lifted the energy in that venue, you also touched hearts. At the end of your set, you thanked the audience for affording you to do what you love. Again, I thought, « What humility ! » A decade or so later, I saw you in concert in Los Angeles. You were the same vibrant, talented, down-to-earth, beautiful soul as ever. When I lived in Marin County and volunteered for a short while at Giant Steps Therapeutic Equestrian Center, I learned that you had been part of a benefit concert for them. I’ve known of your other contributions to globally and nationally known benefits, but to be involved with such a small practically unknown nonprofit revealed more about your giving heart. I’m also aware of how you have campaigned so the older rhythm and blues artists can get royalties for their work. I’m sure there are many more contributions you have made to mankind of which I am unaware. In this interview it is pointed out that you have the voice of an angel. My sense is that you are an angel with a voice that uplifts the human race. My mother was an angel, so I know one when I see one. A little about myself so you know who is writing to you. I am a 63-year-old gay man of Samoan, English, and German ancestry. I’m a psychotherapist. I live on the amazingly beautiful Olympic Peninsula. I have an Icelandic horse. Like you, I have a spiritual background but am no longer associated with my childhood religion, Mormon. I tend toward Buddhism and Hinduism but consider myself free spiritually. Thank you for taking the time to write me. Again, you’ve touched my heart. Thank you for being a positive example for betterment. Much love, appreciation and admiration, Lloyd

I Was Always Pissed When People Referred To The Blues & Only Talked About The Boys......"Hey! What About BONNIE??" The Woman Can PLAY It & SING It - Not Only WITH The Best Of Them, She IS One Of The Best Of Them!! And She LEARNED IT From The Very Best Of Blues Musicians! I've Enjoyed Her Blues & Slide Guitar For Decades & She Was Beyond Brilliant..... By The Time She FINALLY Got All Those Grammys - I Was Thinking - "Well, Duh!! Took You Guys Long Enough To Recognize Her!!" But When I Heard Her & Stevie Ray Vaughan On The Same Stage @ Colorados' Red Rocks Just Four Years Before Stevie Was Tragically Killed, It Was Blues Heaven!!! Two Of My Favorite Artists & Their Bands I Saw Live Regularly But Seperately ....It Was A Dream Come True! Not To Be Forgotten! Stevie Entered AA & 12-Step Recovery For His Severe & Lifelong Alcohol & Drug Addictions About The Same Time I First Went To AA, As Well, In Late 1986.... He Was Fresh Out Of His Rehab Treatment When He Went Back On The Road & Joined Up With Bonnie On Tour - & I Know Exactly What She's Describing..... Stevie Was Literally REBORN!!!🙌 Clean & Sober From Lifelong Alcohol & Cocaine Addiction & Completely Committed To The Sober Life! He Didn't Even Smoke Anymore! And His Spirit & Talent WERE Indeed Unleashed Like I Had Never Heard Before His Sobriety - He & His Whole Band Were ALL Sober! But Stevie Wasn't Just Loved For His Music - He Was A Sweetheart & He Loved People So Much, He Also Loved Helping Them & Sharing His Addiction & Sobriety Story With His Audiences - It Was How He Could Best Give Back For The Second Chance @ Life He Had Been Given - I Was So Proud Of Stevie For That & I Told Him Just That When I Saw Him Last - Just Weeks Before He Tragically Left Us In Late 1990..... I Knew He Was Helping Inspire & Save Lives Of Countless People He Entertained Every Night But Never Got To Know! Thank God Bonnie Is Still Sober, Healthy & Going Strong & Touring....I Still Miss Stevie Dearly! Hear Stevie Himself Share His Very Personal Story From One Of His AA Meetings - Recorded To Be Shared & Help Whomever It Might - It Can Be Heard In It's Entirety On KZbin - Search SRV Sobriety Story..... Thanks Bonnie! Thanks, Stevie, For The Incredible & The Memories & The Heartfelt Support! Soul💞Soul, Always💗😘
