Hi there, and thanks for visiting our channel! ✌️ This is a clip from the annual Christmas concert at the Vatican, held on 14 December 2019. Bonnie was invited to perform along with a number of other international artists including Lionel Richie, Susan Boyle, Italy's 2019 Eurovision entrant Mahmood, Mireille Mathieu, and many others. The gentlemen singing backing vocals for Bonnie is the very lovely Marco Mengato. The concert was held to raise funds for charities (MISEREOR and Brot für die Welt) to support the indigenous people of the Amazon. For those of you who might be curious about Bonnie's voice, she underwent an operation to have nodules removed from her vocal folds in the spring of 1977 - it was the third time she had been diagnosed with nodules in the space of just a few years (Such an invasive procedure is no longer common medical practice). Her significantly altered vocal tone turned out to be a huge asset, though, after she released "It's a Heartache" which became a worldwide hit. Compare that track with her debut single "My My Honeycomb" to see the difference! The "raspiness" of her voice fluctuates depending on how much she's been using it. See, for example, her performance of 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' on the Ukrainian X-Factor in 2015 for a more "smooth" tone. 2019 was an extremely busy year for Bonnie - she did approximately 70 concerts across 30 countries, and this performance at the Vatican was her final date in the diary, hence the additional rasp. 😄 Anyway, if you enjoyed this and want to find out more about Bonnie's music, please visit www.BonnieTyler.com for all the latest news. Bonnie is also a passionate philanthropist. She supports animal welfare charities and she's the ambassador of Bobath Children's Therapy Centre, which supports children with cerebral palsy, and Noah's Ark Children's Hospital in Wales.

That woman can sing her butt off. I loved this song when it came out decades ago. It's wonderful seeing her sing about intense passion as a mature adult. I don't often hear senior women singing in a rock style, singing of need and passion. I like it. I wish we had more seniors, including women, singing about passion and love. It's harder to sing power ballads as people age. I enjoy hearing the difference age, knowledge, experience, and body changes add to a song, especially power ballads, which can be very challenging to sing. Ms. Tyler is outstanding. P.S. Her background singers and band were wonderful too.

I am a huge Bonnie tyler fan. That performance was wonderful. She gave EVERYTHING and pushed to give the audience what they wanted. She has sang that song for years and years and I've never seen her give it that much emotion. She wasn't at her best vocally in 2019 anyway as she over-used her voice and has definitely returned to her usual standard since. That said, she truly gave her everything and hit notes such as 'forever' in the second chorus and hit the end note where it goes up an octave so still proved she can sing with unbelievable power. She's amazing.

You must accept the truth, lying to yourself doesnt accomplish anything. But there's something new to appreciate about bonnie tyler, not the amazing voice, and the fact that she was able to sing this difficult song so amazingly, but now the thing to appreciate is that SO SO MUCH LATER she decides to perform this, a song that fits so perfectly, and that really is amazing, far better than any voice could be.

First off, I'm really impressed she's doing it in the original key. I came into this expecting it to be lowered. Bonnie has always had a unique sound--I just looked up that her grit comes from a nodule surgery in the 70's. As someone who is a rock singer, but also classically trained, I of course am concerned for her vocal safety, but everything she's doing here sounds exactly as I would expect for anyone after 35 years and she's doing very well knowing that and her history. I do almost wish they'd lowered it so she could make some better choices, but I will say Kudos Bonnie for keeping it up more than 35 years! PS., Whoever directed this video made some real weird choices for the audience closeups...
