This is a Sicilian based tune. My grandparents danced to the original at their wedding in Sicily. Check out Carmelo Zappula - Suspiranu for this original beautiful song. The words are deep and it’s in the old Sicilian dialect. Greetings from Brooklyn NYC.

This is the most beautiful, inspiring song I have ever heard. I discovered Bonobo by chance, and he has helped me through many a time of loneliness, anxiety, and sadness. There is nothing more therapeutic than feeling unhappy, to come home from a hard day and put on one of Bonobo's albums. Thank you for helping me to not die.

I'll never forget the first day I heard this song. I was in a Tarantella dance class (Tarantella is a type of dance native to Southern Italy), and my teachers asked the class to simply walk forward, slowly- thinking of what it is we want to see. Who are we? Who do we want to be? Where is it that our feet will take us in this life? We got into about 30 seconds of the song before the first girl walking began to start crying... and not sobbing or a bawling-like cry. Just uncontrollable tears, streaming down her face. By the end of the song, all of us except for maybe one or two people were crying. You could feel the life in the room that day. It was unreal. We were all vulnerable and beautiful, just like this music. You could look into the souls of each person as they walked across the room, even if you weren't directly looking them in their eyes.

As a clarinetist, I appreciate the use of the instrument in the music here. It is so uncommon that music that isn’t specifically for band/orchestra will include a clarinet, and I’m just amazed at the way it is used so seamlessly here. Bravo!

From a slight melancholy, to a cliff drop that starts up a glimmer of hope which explodes at 3:15 as the protagonist gets their life back and starts seeing the beauty and purpose of life afresh. It's a great crescendoing beauty, that fades slowly, as our protagonist achieves their goal and looks back at the life. When all is said and done, they're glad they picked up their baton and kept running. "It's only one life, and it's your life, use it wisely." That's how I see this song. Absolute art.

About two weeks ago my mom got admitted into a hospital. She had been fighting terminal cancer for a year or two so this made me worried but my entire life she’s made it through things like this. Last week we found out that she just wanted it to stop. She was tired of the cancer leaving and coming back and all the surgeries and everything. Exactly a week ago, my dad took me to visit her. At the time she wanted to just give up right there and then. After hearing that I was devastated, and while my dad drove us home I played this song in my headset; my dad liked his old Mexican songs so I let him enjoy them. I found this song years ago but it’s just so powerful, that I knew I needed to associate it with a very tragic event, and one came up. The song is so hauntingly beautiful, it’s a serene shower of music and it’s feels alive. It made me realize that despite the tragedy of the event, it hurts because it was all so beautiful to begin with. After I visited her last week, she decided she wanted to do a few last things, a procedure here and a CAT scan there. Yesterday her doctor told me, my mom, and our family (present in the room) that she had two options: check her lungs for airway blockages or take off the life support and see what happens. The previous night I overheard nurses saying that if she doesn’t break 20 mins it’ll be over. When they took her off the ventilator (and gave her a mask that helps with breathing) she made it for hours. I was so proud and happy I had to stop myself from jumping with joy quite literally. The entire week I had been visiting her and it’s been building up to this, and I’ve been hopeful because I couldn’t sleep otherwise and I didn’t want her last possible moments of people being sad around her. Me and my dad went home and I was so relaxed. This morning at 2:30, I got a call from the hospital. She wasn’t able to breathe while asleep anymore, or reliably. The nurses let me talk to her as she died in her sleep. Obviously I’m heart broken and devastated and so on, but this song reminds me of how beautiful my mom truly was. Thank you Bonobo

As of today, more than 9950 people in the world have succumbed to the Coronavirus in the entire world. I saw a picture of Italy where there was a line of cars carrying the dead bodies of people in Italy. That genuinely broke my heart. I do not know why this tune was constantly ringing in my head. Whoever is reading this, I hope we overcome the disease together. Stay safe, stay indoors.

it isnt exclusively for after a loss of a person (broke up, travel, death, whatever) this just goes into your freaking inner tissues and press those supressed feelings of anything and everything that once was sad. i have a stable relationship, a home, food, people that care for me. still this makes my eyes glassy and the feel to walk under the already cold rain. the power of music.

I dream of adventure. Purple skies and apocalyptic landscapes stretching father than my mind can fathom, as my friends by my side take a hopeless but beautiful journey with me. We see sights no man has ever seen before, feel things no person has, we start as our broken human shells and enrich. Our hopeless and bleak journey becomes less hopeless, less bleak, as the ruined and gothic temples and towns we travel to are repaired. We figure out that our life has meaning again, that there's something about it worth fighting for. I listen to this song, and it's true. God, is it true.

This is my all time favourite piece of music and I, like many people came across Bonobo completely by chance. This track was like nothing I'd ever heard before yet it struck a chord that brought wonderful memories of long gone friends and family and I come back to this album and specifically this track time and time again.

I'm not sure how many of these instruments were record in the same room at once, but if that's the case, I could only imagine how much soul and pure emotion was running through that room alongside the electricity powering everything.

so much emotion put into every piece of work this man has ever touched. god how I love this whole black sands album. so greatful I got to see him and Andrea with their live set on the black sands tour. they literally brought tears of beauty to my eyes at times. mad love and respect to all my fellow soul searchers out there yearning for a glimpse at something deeper in life. hope this song fills you with hope and love and a little sadness is ok too because that's all a part of life.. best of wishes

I remember I use to get high AF and listen to this. I really loved it from the start, but more from a musical standpoint, not so much the message and what the vibrations, the story that its telling. I cried so hard over this incredible feeling of sadness amongst the old Italians, Italians have been suffering under incredible stress for so long now. They are facing so much upheavel and frustration, and most importantly its the culture, the culture of today has lost its way to them I feel. They forgot about the loving family parties, sticking together, looking out for each other, caring about our own, so many broken families, drugs infested the streets, so many broken homes and families. All the romances in the vinyards, all the eras of immense pride, power and prestige. Italy is crying out in millions of ways from every pore and boy, did i weep.

Frankie Lightyear bro. Seriously. Chills when I read what you wrote. I had a stroke a few months after hearing this for my first and only time until recently. I was introduced to it by a friend and I told him how much I loved this track after the first time I heard it. We had a falling out and out of the blue he sends me a youtube link and it was this. The second I heard it I was flying, looking down at what I soon realized was my life being played out right before my eyes. I heard this music and witnessed the same scenario that day. It would have been my exit/farewell tune. EMTs and hospital staff pressed the proverbial pause button and brought me back. This music is grey, yet soothing. A bittersweet vibe washes over me when I hear it.

for me it feels like getting in a rustic boat, alone, into a sea full of fog and mist with no destination. maybe i'll come back, but probably i won't, and actually i don't really care. i can feel ghosts and spirits in the boat too. it makes me feel comfortable and resting in peace. as i want to be one of them. beautiful

I find myself listening to more relaxed and peaceful music during all the chaos amidst in the world right now, such as this. Back before all the quarantine actions were made, I could never sit still to listen to all the peaceful music I once loved and instead listened to more erratic and noisy music. I found myself listening again to Bonobo, Nujabes, and other relaxed musical artists recently and genuinely enjoying sitting outside on nice days and enjoy just floating away with the breeze while listening to them. The silver lining for me during all this is being able to appreciate the peace, health, and sanity I still possess and that things could be much worse. Stay safe everyone
