I have always admired the Art of Bonsai after I traveled to Japan and saw a showing of bonsai trees at a tree festival. Just amazing how long some of those trees have been alive. Some over 100 years old with family members keeping them alive and thriving. I have a few mini crepe myrtles that I have potted and had for 16 years in the same pot and I'm afraid of putting them in a smaller pot for fear of hurting the tree. Have you any experience in crepe myrtles? Thanks and wonderful video and such a beautiful result! Fabulous!

I'm trying to learn about bonsais because I just bought myself a 4-year-old juniper bonsai. I'd like to know how to take care of it and I've been trying to watch different videos but they've all been so hard to pay attention to because everyone that I watched is so monotony and hard to pay attention too but I wanted you to know that I'm really excited to have found your channel because you're not monotony and much easier to follow. I'm excited to see your other videos. Hopefully one of them will be good at explaining how to take care of a baby bonsai. Anyways thanks for being awesome!!

Great video!! I love the bonsai btw, it's so beautiful and full. I have a dwarf ficus b. and it's very tiny. I actually had to snip some of the leaves off because of mildew and now it's looks so naked, so hopefully it will look just as good as the bonsai in this video. I have a question though about repotting: Can I repot my bonsai so it will grow bigger now, or is it best to wait till the appropriate season?

I have been researching saying peat moss holds moisture which isn't ideal for bonsai. Sould i change my soil? Or leave him alone until next early spring? I checked and no signs of root rot

If you are starting with a tree you bought from a nursery (like what you had in your wiring a branch video) do you need to only focus on one activity at a time or can you do it all at once? I was curious if pruning, wiring, and shaping the tree then repotting it into a bonsai pot at the same time would shock the tree too much and more easily lead to it dying.

It seems your soil has a lot of organic material with a base layer of lava rock etc for drainage. I have read many times that one does not want organic material but only inorganic akadama, pumice, lava rock etc. But, your trees are always healthy. Is the 'no organic' material school of thought worthwhile or is it somewhat purist in philosophy but in practice not needed. thank you

So the pot you got the tree from at the start is way bigger than that pot, do you put your tree in a big pot to get more root growth and then just repot it once you get your desired length, and do you just have regular soil in the bigger pot or special soil with rocks and wires like what you’re doing with the good pot?

That was a great video. I am new to bonsai trees. I just received a Chinese Elm Bonsai as a gift. Thank you. If you can do a video on pruning I would greatly appreciate it. And how often and how much do you water, fertilize. Thank you again.
@rebelreloading5265
@rebelreloading5265 9 жыл бұрын
I have a Chines Elm also. Allow new shoots to grow 8-12 leafs and then cut back leaving 2 or three leafs. This makes for thicker foliage/canopy/pads/thicker ramification, and make sure you leave the outermost leaf growing in the direction you want the new branch to grow. If repotting, let it sit in a semi-shaded area for 2weeks to encourage the roots to take in nutrients for food, instead of the sun, cause you want the roots to get settled in the new soil and you want new roots to grow. Water your tree every few days or when your soil is just getting dry ie less soil sticking to your finger when probing. Fertilize twice a month to feed it. Mist the tree foliage daily to produce a balance which improves circulation in the tree. Also that keeps the branches from drying out and dying. Place your Elm outside during the summer in a location that receives both sun and shade. Bring your tree inside of its not time to water and it rains out. Bring your elm inside the house in the evenings in late fall when temp drops below 50F at night. When it drops below 50 during the day then keep your tree inside unless you want it to become pure deciduous and it will naturally lose most it's leafs. But make sure you never leave it outside if temp are such that water freezes, else freezing water will destroy your roots. You don't have to keep the tree in a garage in the winter, a cool place with dull sunlight is good for the winter with a semi-deciduous Chinese Elm. Oh and get some good Bonsai Soil+peat moss+sand 2-1-1 ratio. Repot every 2 years or little longer if the tree is older.
