The reason must be poor soil or too much moisture in roots caused by over watering. Water only when top one inch of the soil feels dry to touch. Keep them in full sunlight twice a week

For new Gardeners, with zero green thumb, spider plant, snake plant, aloe vera, Chinies evergreen, money plant and Arika palm are the best indoor plants, also these are easily available in almost every nersary. And are damn hard to kill. First four of above can live in very low light and even if you forget to water for weeks. No pesticides or special care required. These plants love to be ignored. Any well drained potting soil will do. The only thing to remember is to water only when top one inch of the soil is dried up. Over watering is the biggest killer of these plants. Hope it will help.
